Because Black Star is pretty much a dick who only cares about himself, he goes ahead and stabs Mifune to death. Way to test yourself champ; the results came back, and you just orphaned a little girl. So even though Mifune was always cool enough to use the flat of his blade on Black Star, the samurai is now dead and Tsubaki cries as Mifune dissolves into the air. Oddly, Tsubaki didn’t get a chance to eat Mifune’s soul. What? Waste not, want not.
Back at the castle, Arachne has abandoned her physical body to merge with the Insanity. Apparently she read the tutorial in Eibon’s book, “Insanity for Dummies,” and so she plans to become Insanity and then draw the Kishin into herself. This is her plan to become “The Mother of All.”

We then get a little catfight verbal spat as Medusa makes fun of Arachne for being a big fat cloud of gas, and Arachne makes fun of Medusa for being a flat-chested loli who can’t get a man (i.e. Dr. Stein). Medusa tries to use Vector Storm to envelop and compress Arachne into a tiny sphere, but unfortunately, PV = nRT and Arachne didn’t change temperature.

Arachne easily busts out and then in one swift move overwhelms Medusa’s mind. Medusa finds herself caught in the middle of a web while getting a hickey from Arachne. It’s over immediately as Medusa falls flat on her face. I guess we can conclude that Insane Gas > Loli.

Arachne notices that Maka has tremendous soul perception and an anti-demon wavelength. Although Maka is able to keep up with Arachne, there is no way to injure Arachne’s gaseous form. Still, Maka has a plan to try the Demon Hunter again.

Everywhere else, all of Shibusen’s forces starts getting headaches. It’s like someone filled in an entire scantron sheet full of mind-eating spiders. Of course Harvar feels nothing, because nothing affects you when you’re named after an Ivy League College. Harvar does not fear standardized tests or scantrons.
I feel the same way every time I read a chapter of Bleach
I figure Arachne is going to go on owning everybody up until Noah busts in with his vacuum-cleaner-book and sucks her up. The most exciting part of this chapter was the confirmation that Medusa really does have a crush on Dr. Stein, but things are going to be kinda awkward/illegal if she can’t get her non-jailbait body back.
