Tower of Druaga: Sword of Uruk 06

Summary:

Apparently the Mythical Tower is like Gilgamesh’s heart and something is affecting it (perhaps Amina). Neeba busts Kaaya’s chops for believing in the benevolent will of Ishtar, and we get some disturbing flashbacks of Neeba’s mom dying, the head priest being executed in front of Kaaya, and Neeba’s first party getting broiled by a red dragon. Suddenly, Neeba and Kaaya are ambushed by two of the artificial soldiers that Marf had given to Pazuz. Thanks to Kaaya’s Heat Body buff, Neeba is able to defeat both BullChest and RhinoFace Sword of Blood and Tear of Ice; Neeba and Kaaya then escape through the underwater door.

Meanwhile, Gremica’s group and Jil’s group are ambushed by Nyu and Alphonse Might the Fool and Specula Ex Machina. With Acra’s help, Gremica easily one-shots Might the Fool and escapes (although she loses all her scrubs), and Henaro plasters Alphonse against the wall before getting a croquet assist from Utu. As Jil’s group escapes, Henaro’s green orb keeps flashing, which is also did at the beginning when Henaro first sensed the artificial soldiers nearby. The next zone is the peaceful mansion that we saw Neeba and Kaaya at in the first episode, but back in the real world, Gilgamesh is slaughtering dissidents and plotting to invade bordering countries.

Reaction:

Sorry about the completely made-up soldier names, but I hate when characters don’t get named. Anyway, it’s clear that there is more to Henaro than meets the eye, and I don’t think it’s a coincidence that she had been eating at Kelb’s tavern every day prior to the start of season 2. My guess is that she is one of Marf’s agents or something, since the soldiers went stupid after Neeba killed Pazuz. It even seemed like Henaro was using her wireless connection to connect with Alphonse’s antenna at the end, but who knows if the transfer was completed before Jil dragged Henaro off.

As for Neeba and Kaaya, it’s interesting that only 10 Gilgamesh-heart days have passed since they first set out. I noticed that Kaaya looked quite a bit older than last season, but I suspect this is simply to differentiate her character design from Kai’s. Kaaya’s outfit got shredded quite a bit in this battle, but I’m willing to bet the cloth covering her midriff, hip, and thigh will be magically repaired by next episode. I also suspect that Neeba could have saved Kaaya some MP by just taking off his shirt and rubbing some oil on his chest.

How Druaga? How do you continue to defy expectations and be an oddly engaging show?

I actually find it somewhat disturbing that the assassins sounded much more intelligent and human like when they first appeared at the end of season 1.

Now they just sound like broken dolls.

Hentaro is the Black Dark Knight. She and Utu will get married at thier hometown after the show is over.

Tangentially related (to the cyberbrain caption which had me laughing), did you ever get around to finishing Real Drive? Just curious.

I still have a handful of episodes left, but I kinda slow-blog that series. Sadly, I use it whenever I don’t have something else to post about.

Not that I want you to run out of things to post about, but here’s a (truly un-sarcastic) “I’m looking forward to it!” for more RD posts.
