Maria Holic 05

Kabitzin on February 7, 2009 · in Maria†Holic 1

Summary:

Fumi won’t help Kanako out, so Sachi and Yuzuru try to help Kanako get to know Nanami. Although Nanami is willing to team up with Kanako and be elected as class representatives, she still just considers Kanako a classmate. Various schemes to get close to Nanami backfire as Mariya replaces Kanako’s books with yaoi, the textbook sharing is made moot by a pop-quiz, and the scheme to save Nanami results in Nanami befriending Sachi and Yuzuru but not Kanako.

On the plus side, Honoka’s plan to hit Kanako’s room with a Surströmming stink bomb goes awry when Mariya ends up finding the can and then Dorm Leader buries the can in the yard. It seems that Dorm Leader is a stickler about what items are allowed in the dorms, but if you can hide a contraband item well enough, you can keep it. Since Mariya won’t let Kanako hide the tentacle bag in his secret high-tech hidden room, Kanako decides to leave the bag out on the school grounds. Unfortunately, when a tearful Kanako returns to her room, she finds that the tentacle bag has somehow gotten back in her closet.

Reaction:

The revelation that Ayari is a relative of Mariya brings up even more questions, but I thought it was funny how Mariya’s fake kindness gave Kanako a reverse nosebleed. I love the tentacle bag, and hopefully Kanako will soon come around. I don’t really love Dorm Leader that much, but the bear mini-fridge was pretty neat.

I like that the focus is not on Mariya’s reason for being a cross-dresser, even though he got more screen time. I get the feeling that a lot of the characters are just odd and not that deep, so I bet we are done with Nanami for now. I’ve been coming around on Kanako and her fast-talk, and I think she is generally a fun character to follow. I could do with some more Matsurika too, and I didn’t understand why she had to clean up Yonakuni’s paw prints.

This is wonderful news comrade, Kanako is indeed mistress material and as President of Class 2-A she will soon become leader of the Yuri World. Kiri-san is only playing hard to get, though Kanako has already found out how to turn Kiri-san on, she just doesn’t know it yet.

I hope you enjoyed your nurse Mariya.

Yeah the reverse nosebleed was pretty original. We won’t see it too often though since Kanako has a tendency to fall for Mariya’s pretty face. And Dorm Leader’s random room inspection was pretty funny too.

There was something amusing about Matsurika wiping up Yonakuni’s paw prints though. I think maybe because it was the most normal maid thing she’s ever done. (Helping your master cross-dress probably wasn’t in the original job description, lol.)

I completely lost it when I saw Mariya bent his body like that, with his butt sticking out. Oh gawd.

If only there was a method to keep track of the amount of blood Kanako loses each week.

This was a good episode. It seems like for a show called ‘Maria Holic’ though, there really isn’t that much Maria in it. But I’m not complaining, I find Kanako’s yuri adventures to be much more entertaining. I’m not a fan of dorm-manager-god girl though.
