The Demons arrive on the scene, and Helen immediately goes to attack them. Unfortunately, they are extremely powerful, and Helen quickly loses an arm and an eye. Maybe next time Deneve can help out before Helen gets all chopped up.
It's all fun and games until somebody loses an eye
Fortunately, Dietrich understand how to help comrades before they are on the brink of death, so she quickly backstabs one of the Demons and then tells Helen and Deneve to remain still. The Demons can sense sudden motion, but a quick sniff of Deneve drives the Demon away. I guess Deneve forgot to wear deodorant this morning.
Meanwhile, Isley has taken his Awakened form; it seems he was taking it easy on Helen because he didn’t want to attract too much attention. As the battle wears on it quickly becomes apparent that he is unable to really damage the Demons since they regenerate at an incredible rate. Furthermore, it seems they want to eat him…
Take a bow
Helen, Deneve, and Dietrich escape and Helen mentions she is having trouble regenerating her eye. Deneve presses for some details and Dietrich reveals that the 11 Demons are an experiment of the Organization. Instead of using Yoma flesh, they used Awakened flesh to create the humanoids; further modification basically turned the creatures into the perfect predator.
Back at the battlefield, Isley continues to have trouble with the Demons. He stabs one with his lance, only to have the Demon regenerate and then start biting and gnawing the protruding lance. Isley makes a mental note not to stab any of the Demons with his penis. Isley then loses his bow hand/arm, but the Demons are distracted by their desire to eat the limb.
Bacon?!
Dietrich reveals that the Demons are called Abyss Feeders. Somehow the Organization got their hands on a scrap of Isley’s flesh and now that’s all the Abyss Feeders want to eat. Abyss Feeders know how to do two things: protect their vulnerable heads at all costs and eat Isley sashimi.

Interesting! This might explain why Isley was skulking about and why he is no longer hanging out with Priscilla. It also explains how Dietrich knew to keep still in order to avoid the Abyss Feeders in the forest. I don’t know if you can retrain the Abyss Feeders should they succeed in killing Isley or if you have to then make new Abyss Feeders. Since Isley has a monopoly on the market for Isley meat, shouldn’t he be able to retrain the Abyss Feeders using a clicker and bits of his hair? As I recall, Abyssals can regenerate very quickly, so a few bits of hair and fingernail wouldn’t be enough to kill Isley.
The other major point in this chapter is that Helen lost an eye and may have to don an eye patch. Maybe she should have trained defensive skills a little harder. You’d think that after hanging out with Deneve for years and years, Helen would have picked up a few pointers.

It’d be little hard for Isley to train the Abyss Feeders since Isley himself is a big chunk of Isley meat lol. But maybe he can get clever and use his scent to lead the Abyss Feeders to a target that he sprayed with his blood or something.
