Summary:

Eiji has an important announcement for Yuki, and when Rina stops by, she finds Yuki crying tears of happiness. At the same time, Touya and Haruka are out on a nighttime stroll. Haruka mentions that she prayed for Yuki to meet up with Touya last time, and then Haruka sits back to back with Touya the way Yuki used to. The next day, a tired Touya is surprised to see Akira stop by on his off-day. Akira wanted to visit Misaki and treat her to two slices of his homemade cheesecake, but unfortunately Misaki had a bad cough and took the day off.

As luck would have it, Rina and Yuki show up at Echoes and eat the slices of cake. Yuki has to leave right away to do a recording and she decides not to tell Touya about last night. Rina, however, slyly passes Touya a note asking for his telephone number and he complies. Touya then starts the path down to damnation by chatting up Misaki without telling her about Akira’s cake. To make matters worse, when Touya gets a call that night from Rina, he admits to himself that he is not sure whom he was hoping would call him.

Reaction:

The story about the cheesecake was fascinating. Akira was pretty ballsy to sneak into the girls’ home economics class and steal the super-secret cheesecake recipe, but things haven’t really worked out for him. Five years later he still can’t get anywhere with Misaki, but it seems like Misaki might have a slight crush on Touya. Even worse, Akira’s cheesecakes ended up being used by Echoes and later eaten by Touya’s haremettes. Surely this is divine punishment!

I don’t think I like Touya very much. Touya clearly hoped Rina would call him up as soon as he saw her Fold Quartz earrings. Very little in this show is ever explicitly stated, but I guess Yuki got a song for a solo debut single, Haruka (and not Touya’s dad) dropped the food off, and Rina is simply trying to call Touya to tell him that Yuki got some good news. It’s interesting that Yuki chose not to tell Touya what happened with Eiji, and the two are clearly growing apart with every episode. I’m also hoping that the two managers get revenge someday on Yuki and Rina, because all that babysitting seems pretty thankless.

Hehe. Interesting predictions, and overall pretty good ;)

Once you hit eps 3+4, I’d be curious what you think about the show overall.

Given how astute your observations are here, I’m eager, like Mentar, to see your thoughts for ep 3 where a lot more clues are revealed about the possible directions the series will head. As of ep 4 for me, it’s still murky. As I have written, they’re actually open to the Da Capo, Ai Yori Aoshi or even School Days paths.

No Haruka did not drop off that food parcel, it was his dad, but Touya is the kind of beggar that only takes cash. Oh and the sign that he carries about willing to work for food, all of it is a lie.

Hmm, that is like beggars who just need a little change to “get home on the bus.” I guess Touya’s dad is too smart for Touya’s little games.
