Mistgun starts off with his illusion technique, Matenrou (Skyscraper). While certainly fearsome, it’s a little too crazy and Luxus is easily able to break the illusion. Matenrou is simply a setup to delay Luxus and set up Mistgun’s Fivefold Array: Mikagura, but just as the attack hits Luxus nails Mistgun with an attack of his own. Both Luxus and Mistgun prove to be elusive and hardy, and that’s when Erza and Natsu pass through the doors and distract Mistgun. Luxus, being the sneaky bastard that he is, wastes no time in quickly zapping Mistgun in the face.
Clone Wars
So Luxus knew that Mistgun was yet another Jeral/Siegrain clone. It’s funny how Natsu didn’t even know who Mistgun was before the mask was zapped away, since Mistgun always puts everyone to sleep before even stepping foot in the guild hall. In a completely unexpected twist, Mistgun goes into a pansy-emo funk and runs away.
Hurry and run before she says 'We need to talk...'
Hahaha, how many more times is a clone going to feed that line to Erza? I feel like Erza loves that bishie face so much that she’ll end up going out with Mistgun. And then, when Mistgun cheats on her, he’ll pretend the cheater wasn’t him. In yet another hilarious move, Luxus takes advantage of the situation again to zap Erza and take her out in one hit. Natsu goes on with his cliche shounen challenge, only to find that Luxus didn’t even notice he was there.
Just wait till I get through lecturing you about nakama!
All in all a pretty good chapter. Mistgun was very cool, at least until he ran away sobbing and retreated to his room full of creepy Erza paraphernalia (I’m assuming that’s what happened, anyway). I didn’t have any feelings about Luxus at first, but now I really like him. He’s the kind of evil guy that would attack a mahou shoujo during her stock transformation animation. Luxus doesn’t even name/shout his attacks! This is exactly the kind of forward-thinking villainy that we need.
