Get ready to cry, Luxus

Get ready to cry, Luxus

Polyushou shows up to see Makarov and realizes that Makarov is very ill. She asks Levi to bring Luxus to see Makarov before it’s too late. And with that, it’s flashback time. It seems Luxus is still filled with teenage angst over not being recognized and having his evil dad excommunicated.

Because like Henry VIII, he had too many wives!

Because like Henry VIII, he had too many wives!

It sounds like after Makarov chased out his son, the evil guy took critical Fairy Tail intelligence and started a new guild. Back in the present, Mistgun finally shows up and has a chat with Luxus.

Great, you're here; the A/C is broken so start fanning!

Just because Mistgun wears the biggest pants ever doesn’t mean he cares about ruling Fairy Tail. He suggests Gildartz as the next successor, but Luxus thinks Gildartz isn’t coming back. Luxus also believes Erza is still too weak, so it’s up to Luxus and Mistgun to fight and find out who the strongest one is. Luxus finally gets under Mistgun’s skin by commenting on Mistgun’s true identity…

Don't you ever call me another one of Orochimaru's sound ninjas!

The first strike is a draw, and Mistgun threatens to show Luxus a new kind of magic. I figure it’s a slideshow of Mistgun’s tropical adventures, since all of Mistgun’s other abilities seem to put everyone to sleep. Maybe it’s a shadow puppet show.

I bet Mistgun's real name is something dorky like... Mistgun

I’m excited to finally see what Mistgun can do! It’s been over a hundred chapters and no one ever even sees Mistgun do anything. He’s like that anti-social coworker that clocks in, clocks out, and then goes straight home. I’m also eager to find out what his deal is, since he’s all bundled up like he’s ashamed to be seen carrying all those staffs. However, I’m worried this will be a repeat of the Cana fight, where Natsu and Erza arrive on the scene only to find that Mistgun was easily defeated.

Hah, “Get ready to cry, Luxus” is spot on.

I’m glad this arc is getting to the strong stuff – after spending so long faffing around it’s about time we were getting important disclosures and serious action. Mistgun had best not disappoint.

[Incidentally, being a fan of his dorky name I was somewhat put off when I recently flicked through a store copy of one of the volumes and saw it spelt Mystogan.]

At least it wasn’t Mr. Gun.
