Summary:

Shishidou Kazane wants her youngest sister Akiha to enter into an arranged marriage and secure a successor for the Shishidou family, but 17-year old Akiha is not interested. With the help of her Naviman Imok (“Imo”), Akiha escapes middle sister Nami and gets to school. Akiha’s friends Surre Julio and Okura Neneko score her a pod to escape in, but suddenly Akiha and Imo find themselves being drawn in by the gravity of an old colony ship that appeared out of nowhere. As the young schoolgirl is drawn toward the ship, she is followed by ICP officer Kannagi Itsuki in an experimental QT-Arms mecha (in spite of commander Stratoshi Nina’s protests).

Akiha enters the colony ship and finds it looks like London. A streetcar then brings her to a room with an AI named Leopard who seems a bit eccentric. Leopard quickly tries to blow up the surrounding police ships by tricking Akiha into using the tiny Golden Gun to fire the Leopard Cannon, but it misfires and just blows a ring of smoke. Completely humiliated, Leopard wants to commit suicide by crashing into Earth, but Akiha talks him out of it and recharges his power with help from Itsuki. Unfortunately, the juice box celebration is then interrupted by a neko-hat loli named Kawai Honoka who has the Golden Gun.

Reaction:

I have control! This episode had some amusing moments and engrish, but overall was mostly a poorly paced information dump. The transition from finding some guy to marry into the Shishidou family to doing recon on Last Exile was confusing. I also thought it was odd that Nina was complaining about the experimental QT-Arms, but Leopard was complaining about the ancient, War-Era QT-Arms. I also noticed that there was a healthy tree in the space debris, which didn’t make sense to me. How could a tree stay alive while floating in space for 10,000+ years?

Of course it wasn’t all bad. I thought Leopard (with the VA using his Lelouch voice) was very amusing. The boastful hikikomori AI really stole the show. I could definitely use more of Leopard, especially if he goes all GLaDos on Akiha. Itsuki was ok, even if she will probably be the main fanservice vehicle, and I like how she looks like she hasn’t slept in 5 days. As for the loli, Honoka was so generic that she even came in a mass production generic loli box.

I wouldn’t call the show good by any means, but it was definitely fun. I’ll be following it even if only for the lulz.

Leopard kind of reminded me of He Who Must Not Be Named Whose Legend Started In The 12th Century… except borderline suicidal and can haz a giant starship.

And it pretty much floored me when Akiha and Imo started consoling him on his, uh, massive gun failing to perform… ;P

I actually noticed the Excalibur-esque tendencies, as well!

All I can say is “LELOUCH, I’VE WAITED FOR YOU!”Kinda sad they didn’t follow the manga and show what Leopard would looked like if he was human….

When the robot tries to kill himself he utters “I can fly” which is a VERY famous suicide line from a japanese drama or movie. Just thought you should know

Leopard and the ridiculous setting, I was hoping for more, are the only things that I am following this show for…the lulz of course. After seeing episode 2 I was asking myself halfway “Why am I watching this?” :\

YOUR MAJESTY! *Genuflects*

The scary thing is that’s it’s a perfect replacement for his old mask.
