Summary:

Atsuko and her partner Ricardo see the scooter mechanic and find out that Michiko and Hatchin have gone to Osso to find Satoshi. There, a thug named Davi Nativa is claiming to be Satoshi in order to scare random business owners and extort some cash. In Osso, Hatchin has another argument with Michiko over how Michiko steals from and harasses everyone. Hatchin still tracks down the fake Satoshi, however, although Michiko realizes right away that Davi is a faker.

Unfortunately for Davi, Satoshi’s psycho-punk henchman Shinsuke has realized the scam and is out for blood. Michiko agrees to play Shinsuke’s odd tram game to guarantee Davi’s safety and also secure a meeting with Satoshi. Michiko manages to follow the twisted schedule of tram boardings and win the game (after some near mishaps), but as the episode ends we see that Hatchin is on the tram to Catedral Caju while Michiko is in Terra.

Reaction:

Michiko’s tram hopping experience reminds me of trying to use Google Maps to plan a trip using public transit. I’m surprised she didn’t use abbreviations of the destination names instead of just initials, and it nearly cost her her life. Still, Michiko rebounded nicely from her fluttery weak performance last episode. Why can’t Hatchin understand that it is ok to lie, cheat, steal, and assault if you are a main character and the show is named after you?

I’m not sure where Hatchin is going, but she definitely is a better investigator than Michiko. Michiko’s idea of investigation is to hang out in a bar and ask one person if he has seen Satoshi. Meanwhile, poor Atsuko got teased by Ivan and his brother and restrained while the evidence was taken away (though she did get a cut of Roman the Fourth). I found it a little odd that after she discovered that Michiko went to Osso that Satoshi called Atsuko up directly and told her to head to Terra. Is it time for their 10 year reunion or something?

If Atsuko and Satoshi were working together, then that’d might explain how Atsuko got promoted so quickly over the past 10 years. Satoshi made a deal with the government in exchange for immunity and had his gang members arrested by Atsuko. For all we know he could’ve offed that Kyril dude and let Michiko take the heat for it. Course, it’s all conjecture on my part.

I found the action part a bit too far fetched. Snipers evrywhare? How’s that possible? Did they hire all local sniper cats or just Madlax? Michiko’s outfit was top notch again and very effective as weapon. Hatchin’s hat as cool as cute. I wonder though does she only care about stolen shoes but not any other stolen stuff?

Somehow Michiko seemed to be a bit of a cameleon this time changing her skin colour drastically from one scene to another.

I also believe that Atsuko and Satoshi are working closely together on the down-low, although I’m not sure that Satoshi is handing over his own men (I’m sure he has other valuable important info to trade).

I think they hired that crappy rent-a-sniper from the bullfighting episode. Also, it is amazing that every single child in Brazil wears the same shoe size.

I love Michiko’s outfits; it’s a fashion show each episode.

Item #1 on Michiko’s “To-do” list when arriving in a new city has to be “roll a clothes store”… :hmm:

Personally, I figure Atsuko and Satoshi just have a case of good old-fashioned police corruption going “between old friends”, as it were.

I’ll give you it’d be interesting to know just *what* level of pull those Monstro guys have in the local underworld. It’s not that Shinsuke really needed to put more than one sniper to cover each tram-switching point, but unless he managed to plan the schedule something impressive indeed in that amount of time he must’ve had more or less one dude for each (since shifting them around in cross-town traffic doesn’t sound very logistically credible). Plus, a sharpshooter actually worth something in his namesake job isn’t actually something most criminals can just pull out of the hat – your average gangster *anywhere* doesn’t know a shit about shooting straight, after all. (That’s why they’re so wont to just blast away in the target’s general direction at close range, and get slaughtered by any kind of properly trained opponent.) And sniping, nevermind in a busy urban setting, is a pretty skill-intensive job…

They have a company’s worth of ex-paras on retainer or somethin’?

That aside, cranky Hatchin is still reliably cool and Michiko clearly doesn’t know how to manage children. Then again, where would she have learned to anyway? Her life experiences thus far seem to have revolved heavily around beating the shit out of people…

Yeah. Besides, it’s an action anime. Realism there? :P

Internal credibility, more like. I find the detail in question to smack of Dumb Plot Contrivance Some Wit Who Didn’t Think It Through Thought Was Cool(tm)…
Ends up as a Fridge Logic moment instead, which isn’t that cool.

The Davi “Suupaa Jesus” was hilarious… and sort of heart-aching… Hes basically smacks himself across the face a few times, does a cool DBZ Vegeta pose, proclaims about the awesomeness of his Super Jesus, and then proceeds to get kicked in the nuts… just too much! :D

I also loved the engrish FAANKI part. =3 Its especially fitting for those who have a ridiculously large afro… and blonde at that!

Flavor of Love

I can’t unsee what has been sawed, but I am thankful for it.
