Updated to WP 2.7 RC2

by Kabitzin on December 10, 2008 in Site News

Unlike RC1, this release candidate actually works. The backend is nice and smooth, which is just how I like my backends. This should be the last time I have to do a manual update of core WP files (thank goodness), and I’ve verified the automatic update works. I’m quite pleased with the new UI (categories on the right side again, woot!), and the final release should be very similar to RC2.

Of course the installation didn’t finish without a hitch. WP-Sticky didn’t work at all and had to be deleted before SS!AB would even load. This wasn’t that big a deal, however, since sticky posts have been added as a native feature. I also deactivated the Share This plugin, since I’m not sure that anyone actually used it.

Not yet, I’m waiting for an updated version of Sandbox to come out, as this is a customized child theme that works off the Sandbox theme.

If no update comes out for a while, I’ll look into hacking the theme myself, but I’d rather wait a while and see if someone else will do the work for me =3.

I thoroughly enjoy your description of WP’s backend.

That was quick. Now we are running WP 2.7 proper.

Yeah. 2.7 looks sweet from what I can tell. I plan to upgrade to that tonight myself. And yes, hurray for categories not buried anymore.
