Summary:
There’s a bad storm outside, and Daitetsu is soaked. Daitetsu had forgotten his keys and police dragged him to the station for looking like a burglar. While watching Jin and Nagi interact, he notices that the two seem uncomfortably close, and he suspects they are having an illicit love affair. However, Daitetsu then overhears Nagi scolding Jin and begins to think that Nagi is an evil woman taking advantage of Jin. Things get even weirder when Daitetsu finds the planning sketches for the statue that Jin carved in the first episode. Daitetsu figures that Nagi was simply the model, but he reveals that he actually stole the sacred wood that he gave to Jin.
The construction workers were going to burn the wood, but Daitetsu wanted to fuel Jin’s art passion. When Nagi finds out about Daitetsu’s thievery, she is very angry, because the fire would have been a purifying ceremony. Nagi then proceeds to scare Daitetsu, telling him he has been cursed. As Daitetsu runs out in the storm to repent, he finds Nagi but she is different from before. It is the return of mature Nagi, but afterwards Nagi faints and can’t remember a thing. At school, everyone is confused that Daitetsu and Nagi seem to be fighting over Jin’s affections.
Reaction:
I guess Daitetsu just really wanted to give Jin wood *snicker*. I wonder what would have happened if Daitetsu did not steal the wood, and mature Nagi (henceforth “Magi”) told Daitetsu not to feel remorse. Is it possible that Nagi really does have a split personality? It’s not that surprising, considering that technically Zange is a sort of offshoot personality as well. It seems that Nagi’s fainting spell was similar to what happened after Nagi ate those kittens.
I enjoyed seeing more of Nagi, and it was hilarious when she said her acting covered up plot holes. Nagi and Jin’s home life was very amusing and I look forward to her battle with Daitetsu, even though I assume the misunderstanding will be cleared up soon. I thought it was strange how all of Daitetsu’s musings were framed with little cows. Also odd was the random green-haired girl who ran out of the men’s bathroom. Why was she in there?

I’m sorry, but that’s worse than a bad pun. That’s an obviously bad pun. >_<
Apparently a character from a side story from the Kannagi manga? And we still don’t know why she was there.
Mature Nagi is Full Power Mode?
I loved the scene when Nagi and Daitetsu simultaneously went: This man/woman… I hate him/her! Synchronization 100%!!
I’m surprised that you only noticed Puniata, and not the manga-ka’s avatar.
And yes, she’s from the Kannagi manga omake:
Omake
Also: Bad Pun
I noticed the ghost thing too, but I didn’t realize it was the mangaka’s avatar. I figured it was just some dude who was freaked out by Daitetsu.
Arg, got marked as Spam for some reason.
Anyway, the short of it is that the fairy is from the Kannagi omake. The Author avatar is there too.
Argh, why, why am I being classified as SPAM? o_o
LOL I was noticing you were editing your comment and then all the sudden it disappeared… Odd that Akismet let you in, and then kicked you out! I guess my anti-spam plugin is tsundere for you.
Damn, but this series has some good voice acting. RE Nagi’s rapid-fire BS coverup and the pair’s woodenly deadpan rendition of TV-soap family scene…
For sure, the VA work is just absolutely stellar… it even covers up the plot-holes =D.
What plotholes? :blank:
…and dunno ’bout you, but I can’t but wonder if the manner in which Tsugumi recounted the situation to the Cracked Art Club Sempais(tm) was entirely unintentional on her part… has she’s started picking up positive influences from Nagi and Zange?
Tsundere spam filter? Oh joy.
That little hiccup aside, it was a huge surprise that big and quiet guy Daitetsu also had an equally big and perverted (not to mention FERTILE) imagination, especially with regards to Jin and Nagi.
And oh my, I knew Takako was a closet pervert, but I didn’t think Shino was one as well. Yaoi misunderstandings! If I was into Yaoi, I’d really start to wonder who would be the seme and uke in Jin and Daitetsu’s situation…
I can see why Daitetsu is the artist Jin wishes her were, such creative power packaged in one intimidating package. Too bad Nagi is going to kick his ass though.
This episode was really good, I enjoyed it a lot. A few definite laugh out loud moments in this episode!
My own theory about the ‘split personality’ is that, the mature Nagi is what Nagi is SUPPOSED to be. Somehow when she transferred to the statue, she was either reborn younger, or perhaps the characteristics of the statue itself gave her a ‘younger’ personality. I think in the end, there will be some reckoning where either the mature Nagi will appear full force and disappear back to the world, or the mature Nagi will split off from the current Nagi, and the current Nagi will stay on Earth as a normal girl and foil for Tsugumi’s unrequited love.
I agree with “TheBigThingInHisPants”, that joke just wasn’t you man!!! For me to understand ur pun without using Googl-err…, I mean… just don’t do it again!
I’m glad we’re seeing more of Daitetsu. Hes quite the charmer. I miss the stereotypical big, scary, kind character in anime. Especially ones with big pouty lips
…weelllll, why else would she be there?…YA KNA’ WHAM’ SAYIN’!?!?! GOTTA GETT UR HAPPY ENDINGS SUUMMMWHERE DAWG!! CHEA CHEA!!! WEST SIDE!!! *gets smacked*… I’m sorry
btw, concerning that green haired girl. I thought they were parody-ing Ranka or something (since I saw a keychain version in episode 5 that looked similar to a chibi Ranka. Must be my inner fanboy that won’t let go of that bitch… you know, those puppy ears… I mentioned it before
)
