Summary:

Alto is living up to his word and caring for Sheryl. Sheryl indulges in her fantasy, but deep down she knows that Alto joined SMS to protect Ranka. Macross Frontier is in bad shape and even after jettisoning 2 islands, things look bad. However, Leon’s decided to just tail Ranka and then take over the Vajra Home planet. Speaking of which, Brera and Ranka finally arrive and Ranka belts out an acoustic version of Aimo. The Vajra love it, but suddenly realize that Ranka’s hanging a blue handkerchief out of her back pocket instead of a red one.

Ai-kun and friends become less friendly and the Vajra bring Ranka back to the planetary swirl. Grace shows up to save Brera, put him in Force Mode, and then cockblock him by telling him that Ranka is his sister. Grace is eager for Ranka’s intestines to fully accept the Vajra bacteria that were implanted in Ranka in the womb. Once that happens, Ranka will have access to the Vajra zero-time fold communication, and Grace will be able to use her implant-network theory to download anime really quickly and frag online with zero latency.

Reaction:

It’s going to be an epic battle when everyone shows up for the party at the Vajra Home Planet. The connection between Vajra and bees was strengthened this time, as we find that fold quartz is sorta like the honey of the Vajra world, except that you have to kill them to harvest it. I wonder why it is that Ranka’s intestines are so awesome that she can control the brain-eating Vajracteria. Could Nanase’s painting be a clue into Ranka’s true nature?

We still don’t know why the Vajra attacked the research fleet, but I’m sure that Grace messed something up and got everyone else killed. The revelations about the Vajracteria were kinda disappointing, but perhaps the Vajra will be able to use their bellies to tell the Vajracteria in Sheryl to stop eating her brain. Meanwhile, at least Alto got to be kinda cool this episode, even if he just decided he’d take Ranka out in a battle. I am extremely confused about how Leon is planning to win this battle without destroying the planet, considering that the Vajra have been owning Macross Frontier all season long with just their recon groups.

My Alto-hime leveled up to Soldaten-hime. Hime not only drew a a battle line between hime and Ranka, but promised to fold bomb her if she threatens the fleet in any way. Alto-hime will defend the fatherland until death along with Sheryl. Honor and blood for the Northern Cross.

Supposing the Yasaburo was right then Alto-hime has adopted the role of Sheryl’s ideal hime very well. With Ranka it was essentially a failure, Alto-hime could not always come to the rescue and Ranka seems to have been trying to collect boys given Alto-hime’s worst performance of his hime life as Protector of Ranka. Still I like my Alto-hime better in the role of Sheryl’s favorite hime than Ranka’s third rate rescuer.

Ranka better hope that it was Grace who killed off the 117th Fleet. Otherwise it would be unfortunate if it turned out to be a case of Ranka cried, the fleet died.

Leon’s going to use the LAI dimensional eater bombs… What I really don’t get is, what’s the point of warping in the ENTIRE Frontier fleet for the final battle? Why not just keep the fleet at a safe distance?

Also, as I’ve suspected since day 1, it seems like the Vajra really are just the bugs from Ender’s Game.

Crusader: I’m glad Alto has decided to stop running away, but I wonder what he plans to do now. No doubt he’ll go on a special mission to take Ranka out, only to be swayed by the power of love and music at the last second. Brera really has had a much better track record of saving Ranka, but I wonder why he was on the fleet. Was he really Ranka’s brother?

Epi: I can’t put my finger on why, but I was kinda disappointed about the truth behind the Vajra. And if Leon MDEs all of them to death, what happens to the Fold Quartz? Perhaps Leon cares more about taking over the planet for right now, but unless he sends in a whole lot of NUNS guys who are good with knives it’s going to be hard to take the planet and keep the quartz.

Your blog totally cracks me up. I love reading it.

I can’t figure out what Leon’s grand plan is either, or how he thinks he’s going to succeed.

I also love that right now, Alto’s on the wrong side, and I wonder when he’ll figure out that he’s being played.

I’m also sick of the triangle. Let’s have some more action!! I missed the Quarter people, so I hope they come back for more face time next episode.

Hell I’d watch that. Just sayin…

After the last episode I really had high hopes but things just don’t seem to be shaping up to much. To think that I could get some Vajra just by forgetting to wash the counter after working with raw chicken, I know what you’re saying about being disappointed.

I feel so sorry for Sheryl at this point – there’s going to have to be a really big twist in the plot (perhaps too big a twist to sit right in the story) to allow her to survive the V-type infection…damn. Fingers crossed for a gruesome death for Leon though…perhaps Grace will take him out, then she’s savaged by an irate Ai-kun on a “Leave my mommy alone!” rampage or something.

By the way guys, I demand you get onto Photoshop and knock up some Fold Quartz flavour Yakult ads. Full of friendly vajracteria!

‘Vajra’ = Vagina in Engrish?

AJackBoy: Alto is just too indifferent for the triangle to work. It’s funny how everyone had the same idea: let Ranka do all the hard work and then beam over to her location.

otou-san: There’s no reason they can’t throw their knives… hmmm!

Martin: Yakult is awesome. I didn’t realize that was the name of the stuff and I was afraid that it was the drink that is sold in phallic containers (the name of which is slipping my mind).

Epi: Apparently Vajra is sanskrit for either thunderbolt or diamond. In this case, it probably means a diamond crevasse that was split by a thunderbolt.

NOOOO! I don’t care if Alto doesn’t pick Ranka, but kill her? I hope my Little Queen feasts on his corpse before that happens.

Ranka should have Grace kill Alto and bring him back as a cyborg. Now do the dishes slave-hime or it’s FORCE MODE for you!
