Shakugan no Shana Second 21

Summary:

All the Sabrac battle flashbacks end up proving very handy, as Wilhelmina has finished testing the special auto-heal/anti-Stigma bandages that Johan had developed. Unfortunately, the bandages also repair clothing. Wilhelmina was purposely stalling and getting her HP close to zero so that Yuuji would be able to distribute the bandages to Marjorie and Shana. Wilhelmina then quickly repairs all her important parts, and Yuuji implements his sneaky plan.

Yuuji had noticed something strange about the city earlier, but it wasn’t until just recently that he realized how Sabrac cheats. Sabrac is a dirty camper who embeds his huge PoE in a wide area beforehand and then has a fragment go into battle. This is why he can only launch the AoE when his fragment hasn’t appeared, and why he has no aggro-shedding moves. With the help of the new team of bridge bunnies (Kazumi and Satou), Marjorie sets off carefully placed explosives and lifts the entire city into the air. This snaps the powerlines connecting Sabrac to his brain-fragment, and Shana is easily able to overpower Sabrac and broil the city.

Reaction:

This episode was even more awesome than the last, which is saying a lot. There was so much to love in the victory over Sabrac, from no one being surprised when Yuuji crawled out of a manhole (WTF…) to Kazumi carefully wrapping Shana’s arm only to be told to redo the bandages. I also noticed that Marjorie has worked out a hands-free solution for her bookmark cellphones, so she was rewarded with an easy assignment for once.

Satou even got a moment to be cool (now that Tanaka is gone), and spouted the typical guy line that Marjorie is just looking too far into the future. While Yuuji came up with an outstanding plan to defeat Sabrac (and showed impressive intuition and PoE detection), Wilhelmina definitely had to do all the heavy lifting this episode. I really felt bad for Wilhelmina as she was waiting for Marjorie to finish all those silly nursery rhymes! Overall, the fight was excellent, but Sabrac seemed like a n00b kid who bought an overpowered account online. Once Marjorie started snapping powerlines, he had no idea what to do, and wasn’t smart enough to send all his power to his brain-fragment. Plus, he fell into every single trap that the Flame Hazes set for him!

Ah, Kabitzin, you really made my day in the office ^_^

Major kudos not only for the funny commentary with the myriads of WoW puns, but also for the screenshot captions. May Mr. Endersen and you continue to lighten our days for several years to come ^_^b

It’s a proven fact that botting in an MMORPG usually means you have sucky PvP skills unless you whore PvP a lot to compensate for lacking basic class skills.

The first maybe 66% of the first season was rather painful and boring, but I think the series has been on a good run since then. With the slight speed bump of the Konoe arc (a few of those were ok), I think this second season has been vastly superior to the first.

Sabrac seriously needs to L2P, and it was so funny how after getting stalled for two episodes and having all the Flame Hazes flitting in and out of battle he finally was like, “Wait… could this be a trap?” Unfortunately, he still fell into the trap anyway, and didn’t really do anything to avoid it =(. All that’s left now is to compare DKP and see who gets to roll on the loot that he dropped (too bad Shana broke both the swords).

Heh, the MMO analogies are hilarious and fitting.

Also, you might be counting Sabrac down for the count too early… They don’t get to loot his hundreds of epic swords just yet!

To be honest I don’t really get how class differences work among the Flame Hazes and Guze no Tomogaras, and sometimes the discrepancies amaze me.

For instance, Wilhelmina is obviously a control/magic type, which means that she can outwit pure casters such as Margery through her counters and manipulation, but gets eaten by melee classes (in theory) like Shana for breakfast.

With that in mind I’d say Sabrac is more like a paladin than a knight in this case, but that doesn’t change how he took so long to cause significant damage to Wilhelmina. Maybe it’s because he was PvPing with a bot program and not the real client, but still.

Or maybe I’m reading too much into this and everyone has their battle skills on a plateau with magic and other incantations figuring into the clinching factor, although it doesn’t change how Margery mostly prefers incantations and fireballs to melee attacks (look at how she fared against Sydonay in the flashback battle, who I’m guessing is knight class).

Kazumi carefully wrapping Shana’s arm

It’s probably just me but Yoshida and Shana have been getting along so well that it’s either going to get weird or very yurilicious. :D ~~~
