I feel like the manga is stuck in one big genjutsu pancake. I mean the last 6 chapters were just genjutsu on top of genjutsu. It was cool… the first 3 times. Now it’s like can we see some REAL fighting? Enough with this genjutsu. It’s like is that all Itachi can do?
Seriously! This is always the problem with series that give a main character the ability to use clones or illusions (e.g. Flame of Recca and Get Backers, respectively). Whenever something really unusual happens, I am immediately skeptical. Let’s say I read Naruto and I see Tenten actually hit an enemy; immediately I’m thinking, “Haha, she’s stuck in genjutsu.” I was really expecting Sasuke to bust in and start tossing fireballs or wailing on his electric guitar, but instead he’s been engaging his brother in a staring match.
On the other hand, I suppose it is better to see the illusion than to see what is really happening. Poor flytrap guy (Zetsu) has spent the last few chapters watching two guys stand around; he’s so bored he’s started talking to himself! I think that “being stuck in genjutsu” could have value as the ultimate excuse, however. Here are some examples:
I wasn’t spaced out. I was caught in genjutsu.
You didn’t see me making out with my own twin brother/sister. You were caught in genjutsu.

If Itachi really wanted to mess with Sasuke’s mind, he would have shown him a genjutsu of him screwing Sasuke. Incest genjutsu FTW! XD
