Siscon Mishap

by Kabitzin on January 11, 2008 in Random Stuff

Siscon happens.

A pair of twins who were adopted by separate families as babies got married without knowing they were brother and sister, a peer told the House of Lords.

Onii-chan no baka!

The peer – who was told of the case by a High Court judge involved – said the twins felt an “inevitable attraction”.

He said the case showed how important it was for children to be able to find out about their biological parents.

Inevitable, you say? I think the case really shows how important it is to have flashbacks.

Pam Hodgkins, chief executive officer of the charity Adults Affected by Adoption (NORCAP) said there had been previous cases of separated siblings being attracted to each other.

“We have a resistance, a very strong incest taboo where we are aware that someone is a biological relative,” she said.

“But when we are unaware of that relationship, we are naturally drawn to people who are quite similar to ourselves.

That reminds me of a Seinfeld episode…

Ah, the Westermarck effect at its finest.

I was hearing the news item about this on the radio today. ‘Tis indeed only funny ’til they’re blood-related.

Stripey would be proud.

I say those twins should be left alone to their love.

Twincest is best?

Still a pretty funny story. :P

Everyone knows that real life is actually based on anime.

They should create a NOCRAP society. BTW, were they identical twins?

Reply

Kabitzin January 11, 2008 at 4:24 pm

If they were identical, that would be an even bigger problem/trap, considering they were identified as brother and sister…

What is this, Black Lagoon?

Can’t wait for Stripey to weigh in on this. Maybe he should carefully examine his female tanuki’s bloodlines on the offchance that he might find a rather shocking (or pleasant?) surprise…

I AM BOSS.

Funny how Stripey seems to be the accepted expert on siscon =D.

Aren’t you proud that you invented the Siscon-master’s tagline?

Reply

Zyl January 11, 2008 at 5:39 pm

That tagline was absolutely brilliant, Kabitzin. I’m so proud it happened in my comment field!

But Ender was the one who started it all by outing Stripey’s penchant for siscon.

Just goes to show you how Sea Slugs! has probably had the biggest influence on the evolution of the Hontou Ni clan. ;)

Speaking of taglines, I approve of the Wolfenstein pun! I bet the only thing Kabitzin does at work is sit around and think of ridiculous taglines for future use.

Still no word from the tanuki-sensei…

Everyone’s waiting with bated breath for his profound reaction…

Maybe Kabitzin should link Stripey within the articles to get his attention. Either way, if I recall correctly, Stripey is a fan of siscon romance only when the sister coincidentally turns out to be non-blood related?

The best siscon is blood-related. It’s the most hilarious that way in anime.

I’m sure the twins get the “my, aren’t you two compatible?” comment a lot. :)

I actually asked my wife before we got married – what’d we do if we found out we were siblings? (without going into the sordid details how that can happen). We figured we’d still quietly get married but boast about it on the internet not have kids.

And why do I have the feeling this would have a different reception if it happened in Japan? XD
