Amu meets the super-genki Watarai Misaki, and Misaki suggests the two of them team up to pursue Tadase. Since Amu has already been publicly rejected and can get close to fellow-guardian Tadase, she is the perfect partner. Apparently Misaki has been in love with Tadase ever since he caught her singing a goofy song and remarked that it was good to be energetic.

However, while trying to get Tadase to sign a love charm (per psychic Saeki Nobuko’s instructions), Misaki accidentally calls Tadase her prince, and he undergoes a chara-change. When she later overhears him telling Nadeshiko how he dislikes the extra energy of being a megalomaniac, Misaki misunderstands and thinks Tadase hates her. Thus the way is paved for some emo, and a bride X-Chara. Of course Amulet Heart saves the day, and Misaki develops a new crush on Kuukai after he hears her dorky song and tells her that it’s great to be energetic.

This was a fairly boring episode overall, with a bland message. We did find out that Kuukai may be the real heartthrob of the school and that Tadase likes cougars. I also enjoyed the new battle strategies that came up this time. Misaki’s handshake attack was decent, but a better idea would have been to pull Amu forward into a knee (followed by an elbow to the face).

That kind of foresight passed on down to Misaki’s X-Chara as well. The X-Chara was smart enough to try to use some suppression fire to keep Amu from chara-becoming Amulet Heart. However, it didn’t count on Tadase covering her with Holy Crown and Amu spawning with pom pom energy shields.

I disagree that this episode was boring. Watarai was a worthy ally. I for one salute her short lived attempt to rid us of Tadase. Her cunning and selective hearing ought to be praised, not despised!

Besides some one had to remind Amu-chan of Tadase’s insolent rejection of her shoujo love. At any rate I hope Watarai’s operations against Yaya prove more successful than her ill fated adventure in opposing Fujisaki.

My goodness! Theres already subs for epi 9 and you’ve just finished blogging this?! :P I’ll forgive you once we see the elegant Osaka in the rotating banner thing :3

oh man, Misaki is just like this girl I used to have a big crush on in elementary school! She liked me (somewhat), but I was too shy to put the moves on her, and then she falls for this other guy, and a few years ago, I found out she actually liked my best friend too (when they were like, in the 4th grade)! My friend didn’t tell me, or put the moves on her since he knew I liked her *sniff* Such a good friend I have!

but yea, this epi sort of sucked. Hopefully, we’ll only have to endure a few epis like this. Plus, epi 10 will have Amus final chara-change and that incest sister! YAYNESS!
