Sea Slugs! Winter Giveaway Contest

Sea Slugs! Winter Giveaway Contest taiyakiWow, this site is nearing the 4 year mark, so I wanted to do something special since that’s like 1,000 years old in internet years. After my experiences as both a sponsor and a winner last month, I’ve learned that people like relevant contests and relevant prizes. With that said, I am giving away $20 Amazon Gift Certificates to THREE winners that will be randomly drawn next week (December 9th, hopefully I will remember).

Keep reading for how to enter our first contest ever!

Rules and Stuff:

  1. Leave a comment on this post with (1) one thing you really like about Sea Slugs! AND (2) one thing you would either change or like to see added to Sea Slugs! Anime Blog.
  2. One entry per person, and I will randomly select three winners from the pool of qualified contestants.
  3. Amazon gift certificates are nice because they give you instant gratification, and they are fast and anonymous. I wanted to hold the contest before the Christmas buying frenzy to give winners a chance to use their certificate.

So that should be pretty simple right? We’ve had a good year financially, so I’m trying to share the wealth and also improve the website for all our loyal readers.

One of the founders of Sea Slugs, I handle most of the blog admin tasks while wearing my I AM BOSS shirt. I like my action series well choreographed, and my romance series extra trashy. I also have a soft spot for puns.

Ooh, contests, fun.

1. I love your blogger interview series. Although I’m guilty myself, episodic blogging can sometimes get tedious to read, editorials are agreat way to break the monotony and your interviews are particularly innovative and interesting in that regard.

2. Hmm, this is a hard one, I don’t see much that needs change here…
Hmm, I suppose adding a tag cloud or some other way of quickly navigating to related posts would be neat.

1. Let’s be random since everyone will say other stuff I agree with. I really like the Cornell connection. Always fun to find more comrades-in-arms (by that I mean anime fans) from there. Did any of the members participate in CJAS, or was it generally separate from that? :V

2. One thing to add? A definition to Colophon, because I’m too lazy to search for it on Google. :P

OoOoO free money, always good ;)

1. Sorry if I sound like I’m copying Shirukii but I’m with him on the interviews. I think there has been some random aniblogging ones in the past but its nice you guys are doing a series. Er to be different, I enjoy the gift art Kabitzin has been doing every x-amount of comments as well.

2. More contests giving away free stuff? Seriously though, coming from an “old school” blogger like myself I can’t think of much. Still way too behind the times to suggest adding something like “y new blogging plugin/tech” or “z feature”. Just keep going strong as you guys have been so far?

Oh, I am a frequent Amazon user, so having certificates will be great :P

1. I personally love the design of the blog, which is one of the main positives for me. I am one who enjoys a good clean blog design, and Sea Slugs definitely fits the criteria (it’s good enough that I am trying to make it the base for my next gen design). If a blog’s design is not well created, it can be very annoying to navigate and read the things on the blog. So, it must be one of the key points to note!

2. I will love Sea Slugs to add their own opinions on some blog entries out there, and do a bit more to introduce new and exciting anime blogs. Of course, this can be done on a monthly basis or so. In addition, they can also interview themselves and their personal feel on the progress of the blog on a monthly basis. Yes, self filling ego, but I think it will be funny!

1. One of the biggest things I love about this blog is how well it is set up to work with Google Reader. So many other anime blogs only have post summaries rather than the full post or have images which don’t load properly. This may sound like a little thing, but it makes it much more pleasant to read.

2. Seems like you mostly write about new stuff. That’s cool because lots of people are watching it so you can share opinions, but I find that there’s a lot of good old stuff out there too that I haven’t seen or even heard of. Maybe a featured “oldskewl anime of the week/month/year/century” feature would be nice. Not even an ep-by-ep summary, just a “if you like X you might like Y” type thing.

Oh, and I kind of miss Osaka on the top banner.

Cheers,
Nathan

1. I love your blogger interviews. More of that kind of stuff, please! Also I always enjoy reading your tongue-in-cheek satirical episode summaries. It’s a nice change of pace from what everybody else does.

2. I have to agree with Nathan. Osaka. Banner. Where?! D:

oh man, tj han stole my answer…. (well, to be honest, I would have put, “I LOVE YOU“, but I think a certain other handsome man who blogs Bamboo Blade would get jealous :P

1. I like how whenever theres a problem with the site, you’re always there to fix it, like the commenting issues (and revising my comments, hurr hurr). Also, when you do fix whatever problem there is, you usually write a post about it for other blogs to follow. Its like, your the Leader of the Pack! *worships*

2…..hmmmmmmmmmmmm, well, I did mention that I like clicking things… and those green curvy cubes near the top look like they need some lovin’! *nudge nudge* err. so yea, I guess it would be cool if you changed the color of your site once in awhile. Like, have a Christmas theme (and I want Osaka back too!). You don’t have to change the design itself, just the colors!

=D Man, four years! Make sure to tell us the anniversary!

1. I like Sea Slugs because they don’t care about being “number one” or whatever like many other blogs out there. They just blog what they want, and haven’t died out after 4 years!

2. I would like to see more experimentation with things that help to tie the community together, similar to the way interviews work. Maybe a podcast or something. Haha!

I’ll save my congratulations and ancient jokes for the actual anniversary post.

J159: …….you will be the end of me. xD

1- I love the naughty hidden hentai archive you can access by clicking “contact” at the top.

2- I wish the above was true.

1. The snarky, simmering wit, of which I also possess in large measures. Birds of a feather flock together, etc. You know the drill.

2. Stop making episodic posts, combine them, or at least step up on the pace. To be quite honest reading blog posts that lag behind the subs don’t quite cut it — either mash them up in multiples of 2 or 3, or just blog about the worthy episodes.

1. Your summaries are short and sweet, giving the necessary info but not boring me to death. I actually read them instead of skimming through. I also like that you have good screencaps but don’t overload us with them.

2. Hrm well I don’t like that when you click on a category only a couple of the relevant blog posts show up on the page. There’s all this empty space below the entries but instead of being able to view most of them at once I have to keep clicking “older posts”. I know how lazy that sounds but it is a little annoying if you are trying to skip around from entry to entry.

1. Love the look of your blog and the content is really great for anime lovers – great work!

2. Maybe you could subdivide the categories – too many already=)

1) pretty pictures, funny alt-texts on them and i absolutely use the list of other anime-blogs on ur site on a daily basis.

2) place the Older posts | Newer posts link on the top of the page also…

1. Love how your blog looks, nice on my eyes. Also I like how your banner is clickable because I really hate it when they have a home button. It just gets on my nerves. It’s much more easier to just click on the banner. You pick really beautiful caps which point out the whole episode. And it’s really interesting that you have only three posts visible when other blogs have more which evens out your blog really well. Your summaries are short and simple which makes the reading much more easier. It always good to let the person who wrote a comment fix it if they want to add or change something.

2. I agree with shotty that you should have an older | newer posts link on the top, scrolling down is a pain on your hands. The bad thing of having only 3 post visible is you have to keep clicking if you are searching for something like what Alex said. Nothing else looks wrong to me. Wait… maybe you should do something about those green squares at the top like you could link them to something. For example, make a podcast and make one of those green squares link to it and then ppl could click it or maybe a profile or something else.

Whoa you been here for 4 years and your blog lives on o_O
THAT’s AWESOME!!!

1. I love your blog name. It’s so original, how else do I remember it out of the multitudes of blogs I read everyday? Your layout is pretty good too, looks really lovely~

2. More random articles would be good, blog posts about anime episodes are okay; but they’re sorta boring since everyone does them..

Well, good luck~

1. A communal anime blog that not only share great anime insight/wit/puns but wealth generated from the blog.

2. More giveaway contests! XD

1. That you lasted 4 years! =D

(And that the layout of this blog is really clean. And that I love your banners. And that you introduced me to the Problogger Birthday Bash contest in which I got a sky.fm premium account. XD Yes I’m violating the rules for stating 4 things, which is why the last 3 are in a bracket…)

2. More fanart plz! You’re really talented and thus NEED to show off your skills more.

(Oh, and perhaps an “about me” section? *shrugs*)

1. I enjoy the new interview series and the goofy humor. And the pic captions remind me of Momotato’s brand of humor (which I miss).

2. I would like to see more power plays within the management team.
Also, more Stripey jokes are always welcome. :D

1. I love all of the little aside posts, if you will, such as the interviews and snippets of hilarity. Also, I appreciate the Sea Slugs Team’s ability to converse with other bloggers. I know I always appreciate it when the big-name bloggers take time out to comment on my stuff and I’m sure other people do as well.

2.I’d like to see more opinion pieces as opposed to episode summaries and what-not. Haha, I’m a big fan of anime fans and I want to know what they have to say, dammit!

I would like to see more power plays too, except that as a result of my last attempted coup, I frequently find myself “accidentally” banned from logging into Sea Slugs by Spam Karma or whatnot, ostensibly due to buggy coding…aka friendly reminder from the boss that he’s in charge.
