As Taitou enters super saiyan mode to do battle with Shimei, Ryukou senses the danger and comes out into the courtyard with Sousei to see what’s going on. Shimei manages to stay a step ahead of him, although he senses that Taitou is getting better at using his Hagun powers, and eventually Taitou manages to pin down Shimei to a wall with a tree trunk. But once Ryukou enters the courtyard, Taitou senses his presence and starts to go after him, leaving Shimei to get away from the battle. Sousei manages to revive Laila just in the nick of time as Taitou starts to get the upper hand against Ryukou, and Laila uses her magical headbutt to finally knock Taitou out of super saiyan mode.
While Taitou recovers from his battle, we get some expository background on the Hokushin (North Star) and the 7 stars related to it. Five of the stars are related to five warriors of the Hokushintenkun (Bukyoku, Komon, Renjo, Rokuson, and Mokoku) who are given the task of keeping the powers of Hagun and Tanrou (the other two stars) in check. Ryukou reveals himself as holding the Bukyoku symbol. Although Taitou seems to have trouble accepting that he hold the powers of Hagun, the high priest Sonnei declares that a clash between Taitou and Keirou, the holder of the Tanrou power, is inevitable. Souei has some difficult accepting it and wants Taitou to settle down and be a normal person, but Taitou is determined to hunt down Keirou for all the destruction he caused in the temple, so Souei lets him go to the captial to hunt down Keirou since Keirou is the empire’s shogun. Performing his duties to try and keep Hagun in check, Ryukou fights a mini-battle with Taitou to try to get him to stay in the temple if Taitou loses, but the two fight to a draw as Ryukou discovers that Taitou is capable of Soukihou, which is the ability to manipulate your body’s energy. The next day, Taitou, Ryukou, and Laila set off for the capitol.
This was a pretty slow episode overall that solidified the historic backgrounds of the various powers of Taitou and Ryukou and their relation. I still find Taitou way too hotheaded for his own good, though you can’t overlook his awesome fighting ability. Also, I sort of expected Ryukou to be a bit stonger than he showed in this episode since he basically got manhandled by Taitou twice, but I guess we wouldn’t have another episode had he beaten Taitou in their battle at the end of the episode
