Sekai skips school the next day, as she stays at home and mopes. Flashing back, we see Kotonoha cry as she thought Sekai was her friend. Kotonoha begs Sekai not to go near Makoto anymore. As luck would have it, Makoto is willing to deliver, and so he stops off at Sekai’s house to shut her up with a kiss and force himself on her. He then tells her he will break up with Kotohona. I’m sure he really meant it too *snicker*, but the next day Kotonoha presses against Makoto on the train and says she will let him have his way with her.

After that we get some retarded school festival cafe competition plot, where the only interesting moment occurs when Otome ushers the couple into the special sexxoring room that has been set up for the festival o__O. Is that what the cameras were for last episode? Anyway, a lot of stuff gets wrecked, and everyone has to stay late to repair the damaged props and costumes. Setsuna reveals that her mom was transferred to France, and so Setsuna will be moving away after the festival. We get a flashback of how Makoto cheered Setsuna up once and she has a special place in her heart for him. Eventually Makoto gets so tired from trying to ogle Setsuna’s (non-existant) chest, that he enters an endless loop and shuts down. Setsuna takes the opportunity to steal a kiss, but gets caught red-lipped by Kotonoha.

I liked the Setsuna plot twist, especially when Makoto posits that girls shouldn’t be teased… they should be screwed (I am paraphrasing here). Because Makoto was asleep when Setsuna kissed him, perhaps Kotonoha can convince herself that Makoto isn’t so bad; instead it’s all those conniving harlots that are tempting him away. I hope Kotonoha goes back into slap-a-bitch mode, but it is sad to see her trying to use her body to keep Makoto. Unfortunately, this is not uncommon, and I don’t find Kotonoha’s plot absurd at all.

Makoto, however, is a piece of work. Again, I don’t think he’s wishy washy. He does not waver because he cannot choose a girl. Makoto simply chooses not to act because he is already enjoying the best of both worlds, and he has no reason to shut off potential future booty calls. Kotonoha seems to be ignoring his infidelity, so why should he stop? Finally, Makoto visiting Sekai was hilarious on so many different levels. I love how he just shuts her up by shoving his tongue down her throat, and how he mentions how pajamas have their pluses and minuses.

If the games are any indication I wonder if you’ll still like Taisuke after episode 10…

I don’t really see how Taisuke will be any better than Makoto. He strikes me as a differently flavored Makoto, more hot-shounen-blood, less mojo.

Which brings up the question: Just what the heck is in that love manual that Makoto gave to Taisuke? Will it end up being the BOOK OF DARKNESS?!?! The idea of Makoto harvesting Linker Cores amuses me.

Congrats for almost catching up with this series, and your evolving view of everything as the series progresses. As was noted before, it gets even “better” next episode as Matoko’s, er, jerkedness (to put it very lightly) hits maximum.

And MegaMan, you need only wait one more episode for Taisuke.
