Chika is really glum, so Shimotsuki suggests a recreational vacation to her family’s onsen. Sadly, the inn has been closed for 27 years due to reports of ghosts. There’s some immediate Yomi x Michiru service, of course, but Michiru plainly tells Yomi that it is wrong to fondle someone in the onsen, because the steam hides everything. Yomi cannot believe her n00b mistake and reverts to Koyomi in shame.

Later, Shito and Michiru go to buy dinner supplies, but get ambushed by TeenWolf. They eventually corner TeenWolf, and Shimotsuki declares that the werewolf child is actually a human that is holding onto too much angry dead god soul. After declaring that she is the caretaker of the key, Shimotsuki does some pew pew and TeenWolf is changed into a young bishie pet for the dorm. Meanwhile, back in the dorm, the mysterious man from Shito’s flashback is vandalizing Shito’s sweet collectibles in hopes of making Shito cry.

Even though this was mostly a silly episode, I liked all the little details that were put in. I’m not sure if TeenWolf’s name is actually going to be Pochi, since that is just a generic dog name. And I wonder if the Vandal will be some friend from Shito’s past, come to make Shito all emo like Chika. Fortunately, not all the focus was on the new characters. We learned that Bekko is apparently an amazing ping pong player, and Shimotsuki has some powers of her own. However, this power apparently does not include keeping up on the maintenance of the family property.

I’m glad they clarified that life force is like hot steamy water, and astral is like the vapor. When the vapor is collected and condensed, it becomes ectoplasm. I was really surprised at the decision to have Shito get groceries, because if they got caught waiting in a long line (price check!), Shito’s hand would have rotted off, and that would have made it hard to carry the groceries back. I’m glad they keep making Michiru look cool in little ways, and I really like her character. Too bad the animation team seems to have it in for Shimotsuki, as she looked all weird and badly drawn several times this episode.

Not enough people talk about these anime series any longer. Great job.

It got very good around episodes 5 and 6 with issues of life discussed and the friends drifting apart for different ideals. Nicely done for the review.
