Juugo has nothing better to do, so he makes up this absurd story to get Kazuma on a date with Ayano. There are supposedly some hints of poltergeist activity, so Kazuma and Ayano go to check it out; Juugo also mentions a special “tutoring fee” if Kazuma teaches Ayano how to control her powers better. Kazuma realizes Ren is still all emo about Ayumi, so he invites Ren to come along as well. At the park, Ren gets stuck in a love-love tug of war between Suzuhara Kanon and Serizawa Tasuya.

At the park, not much happens aside from Kazuma pointing out perverts and Ayano beating them up. Kirika is called in to arrest the various perverts, and gets some voyeuristic footage of Yukari fondling Nanase as they get disguised to spy on Ayano’s date. The highlight of the date is when Ayano and Kazuma watch a beautiful sunset on the ferris wheel, while Ren remembers his date on the beach with Ayumi and is cheered up by Kanon.

This was a silly episode, but I felt rather uncomfortable with a lot of the parts. First off, the dads in this episode were kinda crazy. Juugo is trying so hard to pimp his daughter out to Kazuma, and he’s even hoping they spend the night elsewhere! And then Genma doesn’t ever say a nice word about Kazuma, but when Kirika brings tales of how hot and bothered Ayano is for Kazuma, Genma is all ears.

Not that the kids were any better. For a young girl, Kanon is quite a schemer. She doesn’t realize she is just a rebound girl for Ren, but she’s got the look down pat. Moreover, Kanon is all set to prey on Ren while he is emo and vulnerable. Kazuma also uses Ren this episode, when he shows off his caring side and gets Ayano all turned on. Ayano was just about the least sneaky one this episode. I liked watching her spending so much time on her antenna and trying to pick between three identical uniforms.

Yeah I was really creeped out too when Juugo was all like “It looks like they won’t be coming home tonight.” Geez. What a horrible father.

Oh and I laughed at Ayano’s “preparations” too. GONZO should show before and after shots of her. Seriously.

Kazuma and Ren are siblings, and Kazuma and Ayano are cousins. Ren calling Ayano a big sis is figurative.

I remember reading somewhere that marrying your cousin is not that unusual in other countries, and so a quick search turned up some facts about cousin marriage (it’s amazing what people will make websites about!).

If science shows that it isn’t a problem genetically, the stigma becomes mostly a social issue, rather than a scientific one. Keep in mind, I do not know how accurate the statistics on the cousincouples website are.

I doubt they are even first cousins. Genma and Juugo certainly do not act like they are brothers.

then it’s on! 2nd cousins is good 2 go! personally, i have decided i won’t get a child with a girl in my own race. the more different the genetic codes are, the healthier, more inteligent and prettier the child will be. and yeah, i’m doing this just for the sake of my future children and not because i’m a geek who need to import a woman to get one.
