Kaze no Stigma 10

Kabitzin on July 4, 2007 · in Kaze no Stigma

As it turns out, Ayumi is actually a clone of Mayumi, created with the treasure of the fairy tribe. Ayumi’s only got one more month to live, and she’s actually only one month old; she was created simply to take Mayumi’s place in the Taisai. It’s explained that the seal on the behemoth in Mt. Fuji has to be renewed with a Tsuwabuki host every 30 years, and Ayumi is Mayumi’s substitute.

Yuuji and Mayumi retrieve Ayumi, but Kureha forces Mayumi to supplement Ayumi’s power by crystallizing the two of them. Kureha then offers some sinister bargain to Yuuji to protect Mayumi’s life by ensuring no one streaks across the stage during the Taisai, since such an interruption would cause Mayumi her life.

While there still wasn’t enough Kazuma, this was an ok episode. Between last episode showing Ayumi getting taken down hard, and this episode showing Yuuji slamming Ayumi on the stairs, it was almost comical how badly they were treating Mayumi’s clone. Is it possible that everyone harbors some ill will towards Mayumi?

Kazuma’s decision to interrupt the festival at the last minute so he can enjoy the looks of dispair on the Tsuwabuki clan’s faces is completely awesome. Also, I don’t really trust Kureha at all when she says that Ayumi was damaged and that Mayumi will be ok. Personally, I think Kureha planned this all along.
