Kaze no Stigma 09

Like his brother, Ren is a hit with the ladies. However, one night he comes upon the mysterious Ayumi singing in a playground. The chill out, and it doesn’t seem like she gets out very much. It might have something to do with the incredibly lame minivan of suited goons who come to taser Ayumi and bring her back to the Tsuwabuki residence. In spite of the fact that the Tsuwabuki family heads the Chijutsushi (earth users), Ren defies them and helps Ayumi escape.

At the same time, Kazuma takes a break from guarding Ayano to help Teana. For half of the fairy tribe’s treasure, he agrees to help them track down some kind of secret egg/seed that the Tsuwabuki stole. Kazuma is glad to have an excuse to crush the Tsuwabuki family, and stop their Taisai festival (to calm Mt. Fuji). However, Kazuma is somehow spotted by the sinister Kureha, who uses some rather unusual powers.

Ayumi was a mysterious girl, and it seems she is somehow related to Mayumi. The next episode looks to feature Yuuji (a rabid Mayumi fanboy) taking on Ren in the first fire-earth duel. We also learn that “Ren” is short for Rengoku (purgatory) and that Ren shares Kazuma’s skill at romancing the ladies.

Speaking of romance, Ayano’s attempt at getting an extremely expensive date with Kazuma totally flopped, and then she had to explain to her dad that she didn’t even have Kazuma’s digits. Maybe she needs to build a bat signal or something. That would be great since Kazuma was completely awesome this episode, and yet didn’t get that much screen time.
