I’m hopeful that this will work, our standalone site at seaslugteam.com uses the same API key as the wordpress.com account I set up. Using the same API key will automatically add that site to your global dashboard. If you only made a wordpress.com account to get the API key, you can find your key at http://wordpress.com/profile/ near the bottom.
Supposedly the API key can be shared between your various blogs, and the plugin actually expects this type of behavior. The instructions say that stats will start coming in after 20 minutes the first time and then refresh every 3 minutes. The plugin is very easy to install and get working. From what I have seen so far, it is very fast and AJAXey. The offsite processing is by far the best part, and it doesn’t kill your space/speed the way other stats programs do.
