Like Negi Springfield’s “secret”, Mizuho’s secret is just not in a secure vault. Maria flips Mizuho’s skirt up, and Ichiko is actually quite pleased about what she sees. Apparently Ichiko’s oneesama always said they could have been married if only she was a boy. In the meantime Ichiko has to hang out at the dormitory (she can’t leave due to an odd force field), and she and Yukari are able to come to an understanding.

Meanwhile, Mizuho has realized that Ichiko’s oneesama is also his mother, Sachiho. With some help from Takako, Mizuho does research and confirms his suspicions. Mizuho is appreciative of Ichiko for helping him find new memories of his mother (flashbacks of sickly Sachiho abound), and takes Ichiko to the church to… exorcise her. Ichiko’s dream of making an oath and getting a kiss from her oneesama are sorta fulfilled and she seems to ascend to heaven. However, once the people upstairs find out about Mizuho’s trap status, they dump Ichiko back. It was all a sham!

People in this show sure get over their shock fast! Ichiko’s ability to interact with physical objects is rather inconsistent, but this episode was very entertaining. I was a little put off, however, when the other girls had to help Ichiko play the Game of Life. Just seemed a little… flippant. On the other hand, I like that there is a vague mysterious plotline about Mizuho trying to discover information about his mother and why he is enrolled. Speaking of mystery, how about that mysterious gross hamburger that Yukari was cooking?

The music that played during the Sachiho-in-school scene was really nice. Also, it seemed like Maria was humming the OP right before Mizuho left to take Ichiko to the church…

Hamburger means something different to the Japanese than to Americans. While Hamburgers the North American way are sold in Japan (i.e. in McDonald’s) they also have their own ‘hamburger’ which is some elaborated seasoned and cooked meat patty.

I think the physical interaction thing is basically anytime Mizuho is directly involved it’s okay, anytime (s)he isn’t, then Ichiko can’t interact.

Hamburger actually always referred to the meat – not the sandwich – long before McDonald’s existed. It’s not just Japanese who use it different than North Americans. Or in other words, it’s just McDonald’s that uses it different than the rest of the world.

Oh I know they weren’t referring to the hamburger as in the ground meat patty between buns, but the coloration of Yukari’s dish was a bit unusual.

Epi, thanks for the clarification about Ichiko’s physical interaction. That solves the whole “Why doesn’t Ichiko pass through Mizuho’s fake boobs?” mystery that was keeping me awake at night.
