In the battle between Dii and Hakuoro, a flashback finally tells the whole story. Iceman managed to start up a pretty decent life with Mikoto and their baby (who is given that ring key), but one day soldiers in life support suits come and capture the family. Iceman is taken for experiments because of his mojotastic mask, but Mikoto is dissected (because she was able to give birth). Iceman is seriously pissed, and the being that possessed him takes control. The scientists are turned to immortal blobs, and the shadowy being goes crazy. However, within, Iceman desperately wants to be stopped, and his words reach Mutsumi. Right before she seals him to the planet, the being splits into Hakuoro (the self-loathing good one) and Dii (the meddlesome arrogant one). It’s all very Madlaxian.
Anyway, Hakuoro is able to win by absorbing and beheading Dii, and wants to be resealed. Mutsumi agrees to return Kamyu so that Kamyu and Urutorii can seal Hakuoro. However, Dii’s personality comes through and tries to stop the ceremony… so they all stab him. It goes as planned, and Hakuoro’s spirit comes to give them all final words of advice. Eruru gets a private meeting and Hakuoro thinks she only tolerates him because of the contract. However, Eruru finally tells him how much she loves him, and gives him an embrace and a kiss. Hakuoro tells her that they will meet again someday, and we get to see what happens to everyone in the future.
The sealing of Hakuoro was SO GHOSTBUSTERS! As cheesy as the Dii-Hakuoro fight was, the last episode was soooo awesome and emotional (what with that sad song playing during the farewell scene). I was surprised they left Oboro in charge, but he did mature a bit as the series went along, and he knew enough to let Benawi and Kurou take care of the country in his absence. Clearly the last scene with Aruru (mentioning that the while honeycomb is difficult and painful to get, this is what makes it delicious) is meant to be a message to the viewer, and it really resonates.
Towards the end Aruru, the still-childish Kuuya, and Eruru notice something in the wind, and it is hinted that perhaps this is either Hakuoro or some manifestation of his spirit. It’s too bad it took so long for Eruru to confess, but that scene was just amazing and overpowered Hakuoro’s self-loathing emo crap that he was spouting the last few episodes. Although the series centered on Hakuoro’s… um, chronicles, I liked how they were able to pull in the supporting cast at the end. Additionally, the voice acting was superb this episode.
The last Touka-Karura scene was pretty sweet, too.

I smell a spinoff – ‘The Misadventures of Karura and Touka’
I thought the ending was fitting. I probably would have been disappointed if it ended in happy days for everyone /cheer /dance. This ending was kind of a mix between melancholy and joy. I miss Karura already. They really need to focus less on the moe 12 year olds, and start incorporating more of the mature look that I got from Karura. Oh well.
This ending was gud the series was gud i enjoyed it . it had some funny moments like when the girls kidnapped Hakuoro funni stuff!
