The Elder needs to get 75% of the school’s votes, and alliances are often necessary to achieve such a large majority. Mizuho’s allies spring into action, while Mizuho pretty much does nothing. During a run-in with Takako in World History class, we see the contrast in styles; Mizuho is the graceful and naturally talented one, whereas Takako is the type to out-calculate and out-work her opponents (supposedly).
It seems like no one really likes Takako, and so Mizuho easily tallies up 82% of the vote. However, when Mizuho takes the stage to win, Takako storms to the front and pulls a Kanye West. Takako argues that the contest should be about tradition and not popularity; however, Shion takes to the stage and defends Mizuho. In Shion’s eyes, the respect of the student body is essential for an Elder. It’s a rousing speech, but Shion’s weak body gives out, and she collapses on stage. In the heat of the moment, Mizuho springs into action, sprinting to the nurse’s office while cradling Shion. After that, Mizuho cannot be questioned, and everyone loves him.
What an absurd episode! While the majority of the episode was fairly tame and boring, the ending brought the bang that made it all worth it. Mizuho carrying Shion off stage was almost as unrealistic as Mizuho dunking the basketball, but it’s just the sorta princely thing that the girls of the school are looking for. Hell, you can believe anything if you want it bad enough.

I laughed pretty hard when he did his ninja-leap off the stage with Shion in his arms. Do you KNOW how hard that’d be in real life? Yeah, it’s actually hard enough just carrying someone in the position, but leaping off the stage is hero status. It was no surprise that afterwards all the girls would do their Japanese squeal thing and he’d be the winner. I couldn’t help but smile, but I was also shaking my head in disbelief.
Slow clap FTW ahaha. Those arms may be thin but they are wiry cause they are ALL MUSCLE.
Mizuho has the strength-mass ratio of an ant.
Retsgip is right. The way Mizuho jumped off the stage and landed safely without dropping/hurting Shion is much more unrealistic than his little dunk in ep 2.
I mean, I am only 5’6″, but I can (or used to be able to) get within ~3″ of touching the rim. So I can see myself doing the little dunk thing if I were a little taller and/or can jump a little higher. I can’t imagine myself ever being able to carry someone my size like that while I am running, and jumping off the stage like that is just impossible.
Your complains remind me of this:
Serizawa: “Why do you have to use real explosives?!?!”
Media: “Re-a-li-sm!”
I don’t really care at all actually.
There are far more unrealistic things in anime/other TV shows/movies. Like how people’d fall from 3rd floor or something, and somebody’d just run over and catch them.
At least Mizuho only needs to be 2~3x as strong as the average human to do what he did in this ep.
Still, Mizuho is powering up as quickly as a shounen hero.
His power level… is over 9000!?!
