Urutorii gathers up allies, and the combined armies finally take my advice and pin down the Avu Kamuu. A few arrows in the fleshy bits, and the Avu Kamuu are taken down easily. Not even the strange zombies that Dii created and outfitted with Hakuoro masks can slow down the allied advance. With such power, Genjimaru, Hakuoro, and Eruru are not too worried when Kuuya has them summoned into the Hall of the Sun. In fact, Kuuya is such a noob that Hakuoro is able to beat her with one slash and a heavy dose of that ole Emperor Hakuoro mojo.

Urutorii and Kamyu recognize Dii as a scholar that disappeared years ago (apparently Genjimaru gave him a beatdown). Dii has brought Hien and Hauenkua, but the emperor goes Foxkuoro and owns them hard. Unfortunately, Dii has several tricks left, and brings out Kamyu’s other side: Mutsumi. Things look bad until Genjimaru launches a suicidal attack on Dii and is blow to itty bitty pieces. Dii acknowledges the sacrifice and ends the agreement with Kunnekamun. Mutsumi is pissed that gang attacked Dii, but since she isn’t allowed to kill them, she blows up the capitol instead.

Ah there was plenty of mysterious dialogue about duality in this episode. From the moment that Genjimaru stabbed Dii, it became clear that Dii and Hakuoro embody the two halves of that strange large fox spirit thing. Moreover, Mutsumi suggests that Dii chose the Mutsumi personality while Hakuoro preferred the Kamyu personality. There was some hints about the nature of Hakuoro’s mask, although the zombies seemed to have mouth portions on their masks. Perhaps Hakuoro’s mask is the source of his incredible mojo?

I feel bad for the previous emperor of Kunnekamun; he got totally ripped off. After the major price that was paid to Dii, all they got was some super crappy, slow Avu Kamuu that can be immobilized and zerged by scrub soldiers, and one-shotted by Foxkuoro hero units. LAME.

Is it just me or has your feelings changed about this anime? I almost got smacked in the face by how strong your belitting words were. Maybe that’s just how I read it though. I really think that the beginning half of the show was better. Once whatsherface showed up to meet Hakuoro, I feel that the show slowly went downhell, as if it peeked at some point.

No way, I still love Utawarerumono, even if it is more about Hakuoro now than any of the other characters. I just wanted to make the point that those Avu Kamuu sure weren’t as cool as we were initially led to believe; the previous emperor got scammed!

Very true, she TOTALLY got shafted, even more so than you think(i’m not really sure how far you’ve watched). Then again, you should never underestimate Hakuoro and his harem of rampant female horomones. I actually didn’t like the Avu Kamuu that much anyway, so it all worked out for the better in my opinion.

“There were times when I knocked you down” “find happiness?”

I don’t think that really makes sense, thanks to Your-Mom’s craptacular fansubbing. Up until episode 23 Genjimaru had no idea who Dii was so how could he have knocked him down?

I believe that little monologue (before Dii interrupts) was directed entirely towards Kuuya.

Ever since episode 24 I’ve been tempted to crack gay couple jokes about Hakuoro and Dii. I mean, Mutsumi has two fathers?

The Avu-Kamuu really got nerfed in this one >.<; I hate how they take away the inviniciblility of the cool stuff when they outlive their usefulness. then again, why didnt they think of shooting the soft part in the first place?

Another thing I would like to know is what the Avu-Kamuus really are. So far they look like wimpy clones of foxkuoro with a hunched neck. Ah well, they bleed nicely though.
