I’ll be out of town till next week, so there probably won’t be any updates from me until Tuesday or Wednesday or so. Other than like if a second season of Haruhi gets announced or something.
Sorta speaking of which, I was wondering: why do fans often call for sequels of titles they like? I can understand that when something is so good, you want to see more of it, but when the story can’t support it, the sequel often ends up crappy. In the case of Melancholy of Haruhi, what would the sequel even be about? Would it be like Melancholy of Kamichu??? Although when you look at it that way…

I guess it’s the same reason people marry for. They know they’ll end up divorced anyway but oh well… Maybe an nice illusion is still better than nothing.
Either the show’s really good, or the studio which was doing the series merely wanted to milk the franchise more. *coughNarutofillerscough*
But I DO sincerely wish for that upcoming Shakugan no Shana movie and another season of Haruhi and Zero no Tsukaima. Nothing bad with dreaming, right?
Just to feel the world… once again…
I could see it as the equivalent of a “How are you?” mentality we have here in the Philippine.
Ask anyone around here if the want another season and/or showing of their favorite “shows” (whether it be a soap opera, an anime series, or a movie) and you’ll be suprised at the reaction you’ll get.
In the case of Melancholy of Haruhi, what would the sequel even be about?
The six or so volumes worth of material that weren’t animated?
I mean…maybe I’m crazy or something…
For Suzumiya Haruhi and Shana, there are more things in the book yet to be animated, so it has good hopes for the sequel. It also would be interesting what happens in 2nd or the dreaded 3rd year of high school. I consider any series where there is more left on the books or manga compared to the parts that were animated to be a good candidate for sequels. The series that really needs sequel is Fruits Baskets; despite its popularity and that the funniest chapters in the book has yet to be animated, the Akito goof has put the sequel on hold for too long a time.

Now, you may be crazy…hell you may be a complete wack-job…but I agree with you that should supply plenty of source material.
I understand where Kabitzin is coming from here, sometimes there just any material to work with.
I was pretty satisfied with Fruits Baskets as it was.
What bothers me is that Fruits Basket anime stopped at where manga was getting more serious and poignant. I dare say there is a difference in how a person views the whole Fruits Baskets series depending on whether the person saw only the animated version or whether he/she has read the first 18 books of the manga.
Fresh from Tokyo Toshokan:
‘Anime-Jiyuu has been reborn as Pino no Usagi! ” – Ergo Proxy is back! Sssswwwwweeeetttt !!!!
Yes, finally ep ErgoProxy 15 and 16 appeared on the usual lists.
As you may know, Ergo Proxy last ep (23) has aired last week (and I’m quite sad about it: I feel this show needed at least 3-4 more “explicative” eps – to h*ell with psycho-trips…).
A (fitting, imo) quote for Ergo Proxy:
“This place is fantastic! It’s like ‘Gone With The Wind’ on mescaline. They walk imaginary pets here — on a fucking leash. And they’re all heavily armed and drunk. New York is boring!”
John Cusack movie
I think Ergo Proxy 15 was one of the worst episodes I’ve ever watched. It had few interesting and funny moments but overall it sucked quite a lot.
Chris:
I kinda agree. There’s at least another ep just as weak as 15, imho, with those silly ideas.
But I loved ep 16 a lot. Very very mucho. I watched it at least 5 times, and I still love it – go figure.
