Those Lean Times

I was thinking to myself that I was really enjoying the summer season so far, and I got to wondering: Which season of anime is typically the best? My first thought was that the winter season is surely the worst, but I decided to go and check out some statistics to back up this claim. Now this is by no means a hard and fast rule, but generally I tend to blog more often when there are more series that I like (and I belive that Ender and Kungfucius do the same thing). So I went in and recorded how many posts were posted in every month.

The results were interesting, to say the least. The Fall season actually came in last, at approximately 29 posts per month, while Winter was third with just over 32 posts per month. Second place went to the summer months, with just a shade under 36 posts per month, and squeeking into first was the Spring season with a bit over 36 posts per month.

Of course, this is hardly a ironclad scientific study, as there are several mitigating factors. For instance, posts per month have been on a sharp decline since the start of 2006, as both Ender and Kungfucius have been increasingly busy with work and grad school, respectively. Also, there were 73 posts in March, 2004, which allowed the Spring category to go from being edged into third place to claiming first place. Still, it’s always interesting to see if data really backs up what you believe to be true.
