Shikeripetim’s Emperor, Yue, sends a group of messengers to order the country of Tusukuru to submit to annexation. Hakuoro plays it cool, and the messengers take it for weakness, but Yue is shrewd enough to realize that Hakuoro is no fool. The Shikeripetim forces are 10x as large as Tusukuru’s, and Hakuoro has to come up with a brilliant plan to defeat a superior enemy. First, however, he orders Shikinaro to get him some more Herapetta so he can celebrate his inevitable victory all night long.
Eruru notices that Hakuoro’s order is taboo for another reason: it’s got the ingredients to make a bomb. Hakuoro willingly withdraws all the defenders out of one of his castles, allowing the Shikeripetim forces to capture the castle with ease. However, once all the Shikeripetim troops move in their supplies, Hakuoro has Oboro plant the bomb, and then they move in to slaughter the survivors. Eruru and Aruru want to be a real family and learn everything about Hakuoro, so he agrees to let them watch how unfeeling he has to be in order to protect his country. Yue joins the battle at the end, but with the fire causing the building to collapse, Yue has no choice but to retreat and swear that they will meet again.
It was only a matter of time before the action started up again, and I was pleased at how tactical Hakuoro is. Instead of withdrawing everyone for a Helm’s Deep standoff, he is wise enough to realize that other hungry countries will attack if he pulls all his border troops. What I don’t understand is why Shikeripetim never attacked before, considering how poorly trained Inkari’s troops were and what a fool Inkari was. It must have been that pesky fog of war. The plan to put up a stiff resistance to buy time and then destroy the Shikeripetim supply train was brilliant, and I’m sure Hakuoro has a few more surprises for Yue’s forces.
I knew it couldn’t just be that the Tusukuru soldiers sucked; really it was Nuwangi’s fault. Under intelligent orders, the soldiers performed admirably against a larger force, earning Benawi his first major win… finally. Meanwhile, while Oboro is good for taking out scrubs, more and more characters are treating him like the very weakest of Hakuoro’s fighters. Oh well, at least he comes with twin archers.

Kurara next time!
I also wondered why Yue didn’t attack while Inkara was in power. If he did so (and before Hakuoro made a career of turning fear into male bonding), Hakuoro’s rebellion would have been crushed very easily.
Maybe the reason everyone is treating Oboro like a weakling is because he cries a lot.
anyone else notice how the two archers okama are the only archers in hakuoro’s entire army? O_o;;
oh and that scene where the old guy walked away intopt he burning house was so idiotic … I mean yeah show he’s powerful … but it looked more like he was committing suicide that making a dramatic exit O_o
oha nd how boring this ep was just shows how reliant this show is on the power of the rack
Have you seen how many soldiers Dorii and Gura have taken out each battle?! Hakuoro’s army needs no other archers, they would just be wasting space and arrows!
Wait, weren’t there a gazillion archers lining the battlements in the siege scene?
Btw, the next episode preview clearly answers your concerns Kabitzin – it’s a girl.
Yes, there were. Too bad Dorii and Gura sniped them all.
I meant under Benawi’s command, when they were supposed to hold the fort for 3 days. teferi thought that Dorii and Gura were the only archers, when there were actually a whole bunch.
Hmm, maybe those are scrub units whereas Dorii and Gura are upgraded units. I am not yet convinced that Oboro is a hero unit yet, though.
I hadn’t noticed that Oboro was treated as a weak fighter, quite the opposite. Benawi is proven at being able to control a large group of people and his underling is fiercely loyal to Benawi as well, so unwilling to leave him. Oboro is proven at being able to enter a palace undetected, plus he does his share of kills in the battles. I’m not sure how as essential to the plan as destroying a supply link is seen as being something for a weak fighter to do.
Oboro’s a Ninja.
Which means he’s really good at getting into places undetected, and taking out people by surprise.
If confronted head on by several competent fighters however, he will get his ass kicked severely.
But thats why they have Benawi, Kurou and soon Kurara and Touka.
I dunno if he’s that stealthy. The whole rebellion started when he couldn’t steal the leaves for his sister, and then we see several times that he’s a hothead with questionable judgment.
Maybe he’s a berserker class hero. High attack, zero armor, very unruly.

Actually, it started because they detected the theft AFTER he was gone.
And he’s definitely a “Ninja” or “Thief” type character. Actually, he reminds me a lot of a D&D character I’ve played, same weapons (Dual Katanas) same basic class (Ninja/Thief combination) same ability to dish out damage but lacked sufficient HP to absorb much in return.
ugh…
stop taking all the fun out of the show and talkign about it like it’s an RPG -_-
it’s only fun to watch because it’s so silly in the way theyre going about the whole story what with lolis on tigers , tail flipping and okama archers .. etc.
talking about power comparisons is pointless -_-
adn I’m still prettys ure thatt he only archers are the twins … probably being confused with the other army’s archers…

Hakuoro’s army begs to differ.
I hope the above five screenshots resolves this issue.
Cheers.
