Fate/Stay Night 16

Kabitzin on May 28, 2006 · in Fate/Stay Night

It turns out that while Berserker’s right hand is his God Hand, his left hand is his Pimp Hand! As Berserker pimp slaps Saber to the ground, and shows off his abs of steel, Shirou decides it’s time to start breaking the rules of alchemy. Shirou first uses a command mark to stop Saber from unleashing her sword, then uses Archer’s advice to image Excalipur. When it breaks, Shirou images a perfect Excalibur, and Shirou and Saber stab Berserker so hard it kills him 7 times. Overkill!

Ilya doesn’t want another Servant, and so Shirou agrees to take her in. While Rin and Saber are unhappy about the bratty loli hanging around, they decide to tolerate her. Saber reveals to Shirou that their connection is so strong that she saw a vision of his past, and she warns him not to ignore his own life in his quest to become a protector of justice. Then there are a whole bunch of awkward moments where Saber reveals she’s totally crushing on Shirou but he’s oblivious. From afar, Caster tells a mysterious man that the show is proceeding too slowly. Since only Lancer and Saber are left, Caster wants to kidnap Sakura and force her to be a vessel for a forceful summoning of the Holy Grail.

Saber and Shirou really are perfect together, as they make the same foolish cliche shounen mistakes time and time again. However, I felt kinda bad for Saber when she complained about how her muscular body turned off guys. So all this time Saber was ogling Rin’s body in envy?! And yet at the same time, Caster mocks Rin for being too tomboyish… It’s clear that Shirou’s harem needs more curvy women who are very feminine. That is the key to the Holy Grail.

Too bad the production values seemed to drop a bit this episode. You’d never think that they would decide to cut corners in the episode that shows Saber bathing, but maybe they thought the bathing scene would make up for the poor art. Also, I know Rin was supposedly talking about Saber being invincible like the King Arthur of legend, but did anyone else find her musings on how Saber should value the sheath over the sword rather full of innuendo? Uh, yeah, me either…

Shirou imaged Caliburn, not Excalibur. In the F/SN mythos, they follow the legend that King Arthur had two swords. The main point of Caliburn in this episode was that whoever King Arthur struck with it, would die in one blow. This was why Saber went up to Shirou to hold Caliburn with him, because Shirou means nothing to Caliburn, as he is not its’ true owner.

So… you could say Saber cheated to kill a cheater. ;) :P

Wait till Saber realizes that Shirou is her sheath. 0_o

I’m not sure about Caliburn being inherently a one-hit-kill weapon since it is actually supposed to be weaker than Excalibur. The whole point is to show how pimped out Shirou’s powers are even though everything he images is fake.

I don’t know whether Caliburn is one-hit-kill or not, but even if it is, it doesn’t mean that it’s stronger than Excalibur. It’s just that it’s attribute makes it more useful against Berserker than Excalibur. Against opponents like Lancer or Assasin, Excalibur would be much more useful.

It’s all about matchups in FSN. If your weapon happens to be especially useful against your opponent, you win.

That’s what makes Shirou’s imaging ability so useful. Even though what he images might not be able to defeat the original, his copies maintain the special attributes of the original. For things like Rule Breaker, the special attribute is all that is needed.

oh! the man body episode :D

I couldn’t really find anything else much worthy of mention in it tho. :D

altho anyone who’s ratijng shirou as important in a fight is really overrating him … he goes emo way too much to bother counting him -_-

Caliburn is Excalibur. I don’t know what happened, but Caliburn definitely is Excalibur. That is, if Wikipedia is correct.

And I found Ilya being taken in just silly. It’s stuff like this that reminds you that this series was originally catered to appeal to fappish teens.

it says that in wiki but there was also an account by an author saying that there could have been 2 swords. FSN takes that into account and so the first one (sword in the stone) is known as Caliburn while Excalibur is from the lake.

Must be a pain to have a one-hit kill weap destroyed…

I kno this topic is dead but i got to clear something up.. Caliburn is the original sword from the stone which is what is said from some authors and King Arthur did something inmoral, unchilvarous..i think he ended up killing an ally or something and caliburn broke because its suppose to be a “holy sword” so something like killing your ally would be unholy thus cancelling its powers out, then Arthur got Excalibur from the lady in the lake, thus making it the 2nd sword which is not as powerfull as the 1st one but powerfull nonetheless.

Well after playing the game, Type-Moon explains it as DarkShadow said, there’s two swords, they also said Saber liked Caliburn more because it was more beautiful, a ceremonial sword, the sword in the stone. Excalibur however while not as detailed as Caliburn was a sword given to her by the lady of the lake, a battle sword and therefore much more powerful than Caliburn. If you ppl haven’t play the game, you should, that’s where the anime came from.
