In spite of Shouji’s horrific mood setters, Hachi tells him that she’ll sleep with him if he tells her that he loves her. He goes all shounen by telling her in his heart *cough*, and so he gets lucky that night. Room 707 in the hizzouse! Hachi is so happy to be loved, though, that she works part-time to save enough money to get to Tokyo. The plan is to join Shouji there when he finally gets into a university.
Switching to Nana’s story, we watch Nana performing with her band, Black Stones, and winning the battle of the bands. Then she works the charm on groupie Misato, and scores a sweet Vivienne Westwood jacket. As she goes home with Ren, they chat about when they first met, and have a tender moment. Unfortunately, Ren then informs Nana that he’s heading to Tokyo.
I really enjoyed this episode, and liked how it was set up. Having Hachi’s relationship juxtapositioned against Nana’s was extremely informative. One thing I found interesting was how Hachi seems similar to the type of person that Nana’s mother was. Is that perhaps why they are drawn together? In contrast, Nana and Ren have been through a lot of adversity and their love seems mature and strong. Too bad he’s dumping her for a singer with better engrish!
