The people of the commune fish a strange flying boat (the Rabbit) out of the water and resolve to use it to escape. Queen Vincent that Hude doesn’t have the vaccine for the virus in the air; in fact Vincent apparently recovered all by himself. However, if Vincent comes with them on the boat, Queen promises to give up the last vial of the vaccine. Hude doesn’t trust the plan, but gives Vincent a soldier (like the ones on the clock in Romdeau) as a farewell gift.

Back at Romdeau, many forces are in motion, as Real’s AHT pulls into the plug vent. Real is in bad shape and Daedalus tells the other Autoreivs not to let Raul know that Vincent is the one who brought her in. However, Daedalus foolishly lets slip that there was someone else with Real at the plug vent. Raul had been assaulting the Rabbit with drones, but upon hearing there is another person with Real he calls off the assault and rushes to capture Vincent at the plug vent. Unfortunately for poor Raul, Daedalus has played him for a fool; the other person in the AHT was none other than Hude. At the same time, Vincent, Pino, and the last survivors from the Commune escape on the Rabbit.

What an excellent episode! Daedalus once again shows how shrewd he is, and it increasingly seems that Raul is nothing more than a pawn. Between the shadowy statue-advisors openly monitoring his emotions (even though he is supposed to be so controlled), and Daedalus easily flanking him strategically, Raul does quite poorly this episode. The old clips of Real as a child were somewhat surprising, and I definitely want to know about Daedalus’ connection to Real.

As for the commune, it is sad to see Queen gunned down and Hude sacrificing himself to save Vincent (it seems Hude was the one who made that clock in Romdeau). The deaths of Timothy and Queen teach Pino about sadness, but who is this Dad she keeps mentioning? I also want to know more about the virus in the air and its connection to Romdeau.

This was an interesting ep., all sorts of mechinations going on and all of them ended with Raul looking like a tool. :) They even had me fooled about Hude/Vincent until just before they opened the ship up, very well played! If the next ep. is as well-choreographed as this one, I may have to muddle through the raw.

Pino’s “Papa” must be an interesting person, as she compares Hude and Queen to him, and those two were very resourceful and respectable leaders.

The Infamous One: the ship is heading towards Mosco Dome which is where Vincent was from. Whether it really makes it there or not is left to future eps ;)

But yay, great cap of loli Ril in the middle there, she’s sooo cute. I think Daedalus is a childhood friend of Ril (osananajimi), but has got a bit of an obsession with her. How old is Daedalus, really? Ril is 19, but…

Well … Daedalus is a closet pervert/rapist/(insert nasty, depraved description). So he is interested to seemingly ‘protect’ Lir, eh? Hm … somewhat reminds me of Frankenstein … but he ain’t going to build an ugly monster, he’s going to build a T3 Lir. w00!

Go! Go! Daedalus … :D

“The animators keep trying to make Vincent bishier and bishier every episode”
Seconded. XD

This ep was quite a setup episode for the next “adventures” of Real and Vincent, which will take separate paths.

Ep.7 will be quite enlightening, at least to the Dedalus-Real relationship, and Romundo as a whole.

I won’t spoil anything, but I’ve seen also ep. 8 raw, and I’m quite perplexed about the direction Ergo Proxy has taken. Ok, it’s mistery-cyber-noir, but…

We’ll see.

My bet is that Pino’s Dad is….. Raul! LOL. Remember, if it’s true, you heard it here first!

I found it disconcerting when Daedy smiled at Hude’s death… or was I mistaken about the direction of his smile?

Also… I STILL cannot shake off my perception of Daedy as a female…

Regardless, I really enjoyed this episode, though ‘enjoyed’ is probably the wrong verb to use considering the deaths of two characters.

This series is definately my favorite this year and I keep waiting for more! :)

But I got the feeling that Dad was Raul… and that the lady and child with Pino in the mall were his… probably I’m wrong but that’s still a thought. :)

@Skane: I thought Daedalus was laughing at Raul and the fact that Vincent got away… I’ll have to watch the episode again to check. XD And Daedalus as female… o.0 never thought about that… but then why would Iggy call him ‘prince’?

I also suspect that Raul is the father that Pino refers to. As for Daedalus’ smirk, I think he was just giving a little sign of satisfaction at having tricked Raul into letting Vincent get away.

I thought Daedalus was a female at first too, but most of the signs after episode 1 point to Dadaelus being male.

It’s most-likely like .hack//SIGN and Daedalus is female in reality just like Vince. I suspect that Pino is a NPC but she might be big fat unwashed otaku. Proxy might be one of these filthy cheaters.

I always though Daedalus to be a woman. But since I’ve read that the big-butted Iggy android is an “ermaphrodite” android (i.e. both male&female), I think they like to play innuendos with genre (yeah, nothing new under the sun). Now, as for why you should give sexual connotations to an android, it’s another question, you can make them look like coffee machines, potatoes, or like a Mac Classic ( already done: http://www.euronet.nl/users/ragman/bloom_county_1.jpg ), but that’s not very cyberpunk, I believe.

Sorry, but maybe I’m missing something here. I’ve watched all the episodes up to 7 a few times, but how did Pino’s hair turn purple? I know it was brown early on before she was infected with the Cogito virus. After she put on the bunny suit, her hair started getting drawn purple?

Also, when Vincent called her name when he found her in episode 3, she replied “Pino?” Was that not the name her parents called her? Or did she lose her memory as a result of the virus? I assumed her personality changed a little bit as a result as well?

In ep 7 it’s shown that Reals real name is not Ril or Lil. It’s simply Re-l, confusing huh, so every subteam was wrong ;)
I was bit dissappointed that it’s turning to somekind of road movie. But maybe it could be little dull to watch, same clean futuristic city atmosphere. But I’m now enjoying Fallout theme though.

I don’t think subbers were wrong, I think the director deliberately made that change.

umm as for the Re-L, isn’t there a shadowed “A” below the “-”? anyhow, I’m almost sure that Raul is Pino’s ‘father’. Remember in the first episode, pino’s ‘mother’ is talking to Vincent about how her husband just got a new job in the Security bureau? Gee who just got a new top position in that bureau? Why Papa Raul did! At another point, Pino’s “mother” is talking about the adoption process and how it was going, then later on you see Raul (before he goes to the mall incident) talking on the phone saying how sorry he was that he’s been too busy and he was looking forward to seeing them. My problem at first was Raul’s reaction to seeing his wife, new child, ‘fake’ child during the carnage. But then they showed Raul back at that same apt. where pino was on the piano and he was assuredly angry. Notice how after this point he is insanely after vincent (since he clearly saw vincent there) and proxy (till the death of proxy). As vincent and Pino left the Vent plug, notice raul had a reaction as the scene focused a little on pino going through the closing doors. Really, there is no simple characters so far in this series and i’m sure my brains will melt soon from the complexity. XD

WOW!!!! I really learned alot from you all abou this anime. But has any one else noticed that in the beginning credits, around the words “COME AND SAVE ME”, Vincent is shown screaming with short hair and a short cape but then right before it switches he grows long hair and a longer cape like the Proxy has???? It’s just something I noticed.

Pino learns about sadness? Awww… so bittersweet!

Real Lil looks really sweet back when she was a child. I wonder if she was lonely back then…
