Yuuji is supposed to be sensing Shana’s killing intent, but instead all he can think about is how hot her loli body looked in his mom’s old swimsuit (that is so messed up). He gets bopped on the head, and when he tries to fire back insults, he falls butt first into a basket and rips his pants in the back. As Yuuji skulks away, his mom tells Shana that boys are vain in front of girls they are trying to impress. Shana considers this advice, and invites Yuuji on a date, and by date I mean a practice session where she will be beating the crap out of him.
The next day, Ike interrupts Ogata’s stalking session to invite everyone to try these desserts that Kazumi made. Shana doesn’t like the goofy smile that Yuuji has while eating the treat, and then circumstances land Kazumi and Yuuji together on clean-up duty after school. Shana is now extremely pissed that Yuuji is standing her up to clean books with Kazumi, while Kazumi spends the afternoon feeling inadequate next to Shana (who is great in Phys. Ed. and gets 100′s on her tests). Of course at the same time, Yuuji feels inadequate as a partner for Shana. Also feeling inadequate is Marjorie, who spends her days just getting drunk. Sad times all around. Eventually Shana is forced to go to battle alone (Yuuji feels he’d be no help) against a really fat Rinne with no master.
Since the Rinne can’t retain any of the energy it eats, Shana has to completely dice it to pieces, which gives Yuuji time to come to his senses (thanks to his mom) and get to the battle. Shana is very upset and tells him how much it hurts to be alone, so he embraces her and apologizes. In a logical sequence, we next see paternally twincestual siblings Aizen-Ji Sorath and Aizen-Ta Tiriel making out and regurgitating energy, while an old guy exclaims “Wow, you siblings is crazy!”
I gotta say I was surprised to see another case of twincest so soon after Full Metal Panic: The Second Raid, but the eyecatch and OP suggest that Sorath and Tiriel are important characters. It’s interesting how everyone in this episode was feeling totally inadequate, from Ogata and Kazumi, to Shana and Marjorie, to Yuuji. At least Ike is still breezing in and out of social circles like a pro, and Yuuji’s mom is still doling out sage advice. It was very touching to see how Shana totally values Yuuji now, and how badly Yuuji wants to be a useful partner. It’s like the writers are trying to make the characters likable or something.
Why does Yuuji’s mom have all those clothes around that fit Shana? Now I’m sure it’s just a plot hole that lets Shana dress up in cute outfits all the time, but… Did maybe Yuuji use to have a sister or something? Or is his mom just an uber packrat?

Yuuji’s mom’s dark secret is that she actually wanted a daughter… so she used to secretly dress yuuji up as a girl when he slept before he hit puberty

I’ve theorized that Yuuji’s Mom is REALLY the previous Enpatsu Shakugan, and this entire thing is a giant practical joke she and Alastor are playing on Yuuji and Shana.
The sad thing is I was going to post EXACTLY what conrath said. >.<
Last I remembered, she said something about the dress being an old one of hers, and if I recalled correctly, she was not the previous Enpatsu Shakugan ^^, but she is really extraordinary for a mother.
