Friagne has to move up his time-table, due to everyone’s interference, so Yuuji ditches Kazumi to go warn Shana. Yuuji warns Shana and offers to be the bait for Friagne, but Shana is still so sore about her loss to Marjorie and so tries to cut Yuuji down. Fortunately, Friagne starts ringing his special bell weapon and Shana has to stop him. With the bell and also a special chain (Bubble Loot), Friagne is able to take down Shana and make off with Yuuji.
Shana leaps to the rescue, and Yuuji remembers Rammie’s words to do something that will make him more than just a Torch. He is able to watch Shana’s back, and warn her about the giant teddy bear that tries to ambush her. Shana gets pissed about all the help and powers up some more, but eventually she just tosses a shard of glass at Friagne. The shard slices off Friagne’s fingers, causing him to drop his gun, bell, and anti-Flame ring. Yuuji picks up the ring, Marjorie lends a quick hand, and Shana takes Friagne down. Just as Yuuji is about to fade away, the clock strikes midnight, and his Hougu, Reiji Meigo, replenishes all the energy he lost and Shana acknowledges him as more than just a Torch.
For all the powering up that Shana did, she’s still really really weak. This episode was somewhat more interesting than the last one, but I’m starting to lose patience. Part of it might be because of the dark palette that makes a lot of the action hard to see. Speaking of hard to see, Shana should start moving in a sine curve with non-constant acceleration because, as Alastor mentions, her moves are way too linear. And what happened to Alastor wanting to kill Yuuji?
Hopefully things will pick up as Marjorie spends some time boozing up at Satou’s mansion. I still don’t understand why she gets a first and a last name, since she’s also a Flame Haze.

Shana is probably moving in a linear direction more because she’s still confused over her emotions. I don’t think it’s easy for her to get over her confusion about her emotions to Yuuji, and Alastor probably dispelled the thoughts of killing our dear Mistes due to his warning and his meeting with Rammie. Remember what Friagne said in an earlier episode? That Shana was only able to channel flames through her sword, which showed that she might not be as powerful as we think.
A nice episode, what with Shana finally warming up more to Yuuji. Perhaps they’ll explain more about Marjorie in the next episode. ^^
It’s all about melon bread.
The thumbs up Yuuji gave… I thought that was really bad…
And yea, it seems like from what we know, Shana isn’t one of the more powerful flame hazes. I mean… Marjorie beat her pretty easily… and she would most likely have died if it wasn’t for Yuuji.
I’m not expecting Shana to warm up to Yuuji anymore than she already has… Not yet. Unless of course, she fights Marjorie and requires Yuuji’s help… Maybe around episode… say… 16? Oops, I’m watching too much Suzuka.
