The import-only game Jump Super Stars almost makes me want to buy a DS. You’ve got characters from all the Shounen Jump series, including Kenshin, Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure, Shaman King, Hunter X Hunter, Prince of Tennis, Hikaru no Go, One Piece, Naruto, DBZ, Yugioh, Bleach, Boboboubo Boubobo, Eyeshield 21, Death Note, and….Ichigo 100%?? Yes, even that, although the soft bishoujo art really clashes with the hot-blooded-burning-spirit action panels
The combo possibilities are intriguing…
Me: Ichigo’s ban-kai setting up for Ama Kakeru Ryu No Hirameki to finish with the MOVE OF GOD! (cue the flashy Go piece slamming accompanied by dramatic music).
Enemy: {gasp !} Nooooooes! I should have known that a play on the 5-3 point is as good a kakari as your shimari on that point would have been!**
Me: Bwhahaha, pwned!
At any rate, I wonder if this game is as good as it sounds. Anyone out there have it?
**Obviously just making crap up.

speaking of the game, you check out the short one-shot advertising the game? It was pretty hilarious with Sena as the “main” character of sorts… Forgot which group scanlated it, but I do suggest reading it if you haven’t yet!
I could imagine that you played as Toujou and her ultimate move would be “nerd to smoking hotty” which causes instant KO on all guys and girls because the guys would want her and the girls would go how cute she is.
Got the game. Didn’t like it that much, and felt it was over-hyped. Unless you are proficient in Japanese or are using a guide (IGN published one), you’ll most likely be fiddling around and wondering what the hell are you doing. The game itself is more of a ‘Mario-DS + Super Smash Brothers’ game. You have to do specific tasks with your picked “SJ team” under certain restrictions/requirements against 1 or more opposing SJ teams.
Really loses its replay value if you’re playing it alone. But if you can struggle with it, tolerate the massive artifacting, unlock all of the characters, and figure out how the game ultimately works with its features, I’m sure you’ll enjoy it.
As for Toujou, she’s only a support character in the game. Her main use is to restore your life points amidst the chaos.
Argh, curse my inability to understand Japanese!
Jump Superstars is easily one of the best games for DS right now. The whole not understanding Japanese thing is really not a big deal since theres a couple very useful faqs over at gamefaqs.com that have translations for all of the mission objectives and menus. I barely know any Japanese and it was pretty easy for me to get the hang of things.
Anyway, the game is really cool and you’d definitely get the most out of it if you had a couple people around you who had it also for multiplayer. The single player though, is nothing to scoff at. The game’s story mode took me around 18 or so hours to fully complete and unlock all 600+ komas in the game.
