While crossing some mountains into town, Van and Wendy are attacked by a strange dragon armor. They pick up a young blonde boy in their escape, and it turns out that the boy is Joshua Langren, Ray’s brother. Two years ago, when the dragon appeared, a clawed man with two children also arrived in town. Ray reasons that the dragon must be piloted by one of Clawed Man’s toadies, and Joshua came to the town looking for Ray.
Joshua tells Wendy Ray’s backstory, and it seems that Ray used to be a kind and calm man, until his love, Shino, died. Shino was the head designer at the armor development center (Ray was a tester), and that’s why Joshua is so knowledgeable about armors. Together, they manage to defeat the dragon, only to find that the pilot died long ago. The dragon had been running on auto-pilot the whole time, using solar power to continue running. Van takes the data board, and avoids Ray’s attempt to stick him up. Ray then bolts, and Van and Wendy get stuck with Joshua.
Story-wise, not much happened, as the dragon was really just an excuse to introduce Joshua and give Ray’s backstory. However, there were a lot of great action moments, such as Ray and Van using TeamSpeak to take down that dragon n00b. The final standoff was pretty slick as well, as Ray continues to use that awkward-looking gun effectively. Joshua’s naivete, climbing ability, and puzzle skillz were amusing, but I think it will get old quickly. Hopefully Van and Wendy can ditch him in the next town.
So is that turtle named Kameo? How is it not dead from the bullet wound it got in episode 1?

The turtle was undoubtedly sporting one of those new kevlar shells that is all the rage these days. The pink, however, is quite passe.
Well the turtle has been called the Turtle King in the past and ‘kame’ does mean turtle in Japanese. (Kamehameha = turtle destruction wave, anyone?). As for it’s survival, well, I’m guessing they were using a lower calibre bullet than a .45, which would would have perforated both turtle and poor Wendy.
If so it stands to reason that a combination of low calibre bullet, the shell and Wendy getting knocked off her feet contributed to both their survival.
Thank you Wikipedia.
and boy I wonder how much doujinshi is in the works featuring Joshua X Wendy…………and where to find it….don’t look at me!
