The ship that Wendy and Van took ends up stranding them on a paradise island and bolting. Joe Lazzi, a very wealthy man, greets them and offers them refuge at La Vie En Rose for 10 days until a transport ship arrives. To assuage their fears, he offers to have his staff check all the ports for information about the clawed man. In the meantime, Joe attempts to persuade each of the duo separately that they should abandon their quest. Joe claims that he has become friends with all his former enemies and that revenge leads nowhere.
Just when it seems like Van will cave in, he remembers his last day with Helena. Although he feels so tired at the beginning of the flashback, the end drives him into a fury that clears his mind. Joe is waiting for him, and summons his Golden Cradle armor (it’s like a fusion of Skeletor and Akatsuki). Joe is skilled, but Van just watched Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children, and splits his sword to own Joe with the powers of geometry and blinding light. Joe concedes defeat, but is happy that he bought his comrades some time and self-destructs, but it doesn’t even scratch the paint job on Dann.
It looks like the going is about to get much harder, as Van realizes that the Clawed Man has lots of allies. This episode was well paced, and the mood of malaise really nicely contrasted with the beautiful scenery and the especially well-drawn clouds. I was confused as to what the purpose of the demonic dog was, however, and I don’t understand why they kept showing the Love Deluxe keychain. Don’t tell me Clawed Man == Sunflower Samurai!!!

Swear to God I’m going back in time to kill the bastards responsible for making me write the above. Anyhow, good episode though I felt kinda disappointed somehow and I’m glad to see that Ray will be making an appearance again, as well as another of the the soon to be revealed silhouettes characters.
Oh crap, Wendy in a tennis outfit. I need to watch this episode right away…
