Gundam Seed Destiny 46

Ender on September 6, 2005 · in Gundam Seed Destiny

Massive space battles are good and all, but GSD finally got another much-needed civilian episode. The ZAFTers make only a perfunctory appearance at the beginning, with Luna pulling her Suzuka moves on Shinn, while Rey maintains his scowling demeanor. Meanwhile, the Archangel lands on the Copernicus moon base, and the young’uns ostensibly go on an “information gathering expedition”, investigating the latest in women’s fashion. Back onboard the ship, Mwu is glad the kids are gone so he can put the moves on Capt. Ramius. He comes on just a tad bit hard though…”Do you want to take a bath together?”

We finally get back to Meer, where we find that her bodyguard Sarah is like a female version of Rey, filling Meer’s head with poisonous thoughts concerning the assassination of the real Lacus. Kira and company receive a message from Meer while they are shopping, and though they know it’s a trap, they head out to some abandoned ruins to meet her. Naturally, gunplay erupts, and we are left with a tragic ending :( Looks like next episode, we will find out about Meer’s past. Hopefully it won’t be mostly recaps…

Tons of great stuff in this episode; I found it much more enjoyable than the relentless barrage of stock mech footage in the past few episodes. Plus, it’s always great to see our heroes wearing something other than uniforms, though Moyism’s high school total-conversion idea is taking it to the extreme. Some highlights of the show:

  • The scene with Athrun and Kira discussing Shinn was unintentionally hilarious – the expression on Athrun’s face while mentioning Kira’s defeat and the downing of the Archangel was extremely smug, though his voice didn’t sound like it. Maybe the animators were taking a coffee break…
  • It was funny watching hotshot Gundam pilots suffer through clothes-shopping with girls. Kira takes it like a man though, nodding his head and smiling at everything Lacus tries. She catches on pretty quick to his tape-recorder responses though…
  • Athrun once again proves that he is part of Shin Noir, as he owns everyone John-Woo style with a freakin’ pistol. He just needs to don a cocktail gown, and he will be the ultimate coordinator.
  • Sarah just doesn’t have any luck. Not only does she miss with her sniping, but she gets her grenade shot back at her. Talk about ownage; nice move by Kira and Athrun.
  • Torii is the man…er…bird…whatever. Last minute warning about the hidden snipers saved Lacus’s butt. Torii deserves to be in the motivational phrase of the day.

Bwahahahaha! …Cocktail dress… mrphh-hahahahaha! (Sorry, I couldn’t help it. I can just see Shinn and Athrun have another debating match, only to have Rey step in and Elda Taluta Shinn back to his side again).

About the grenade deflection thingie… I’m quite positive it was Meyrin and not Kira who actually managed the shot. If you check at 19m33s, Kira shoots first and Meyrin second. The second shot is the one that clips the grenade away.

*points at the hangar scene, 5m36s* Anyone notice the Kusanagi? That would be the missing third ship of Seed’s “Three Ship Alliance”.

Kira sucks with a gun. Look closely and you’ll see all the kills are either by Athrun or Meyrin. He’s really not supposed to be good with a gun, being a peace fanatic at all. Throw him anywhere w/o Freedom and he’s just a wimp, LOL.

It seems also that Torii is now functioning as a sniper finder/lookout, though it’s really kinda funny. Guess Kira’s good for something also.

Like i said in th elast post,Athuran sure made a quick recovery from needing help to walk to jumping around like a monkey.I guess cordinators heals faster than normal humans. On another note Mu sure dosen’t waste time getting to know his old lover better.Wanted to take a shower with her and all.:)
But I wonder who owns the moon city?It seems like orb considering seeing the kusanagi there. But why send Meer to a Orb city.Didn’t think they let her in considering what happend with zaft and orb.It’ could not have been zaft, why would they let to orb battle ship in their city.Dosen’t seem like a earth alliance city either. What you guys think.

Last thing it’s funny why nobody seems to reconize Lacus in the city.I could hardly call robe a good discaise.

Actually, if you look even more closely, the grenade was hit by the THIRD shot. From the angle of the bullet, it looks like Kira probably did it with his second shot.

Personally I think it was Lee Harvey Oswald that shot it :)

Time to change the timestamps….

By the way, was that a joke when you said that Athrun was party of Asuka Shin Noir? Does that make Kira Chloe?

I’d say Kira was more like Mirelle…not super 1337, but pretty decent (at least, at non-Gundam combat).

Did anyone see blood on Meer when she got shot? For her to die like that she must have been ozeing out blood. But where did she get shot?

I wonder how the rematch with mu and rey will be like. Will mu be able to defeat the gundam that kick his ass the last time.Or a match with kira and rey when both have the dragoon wepon system. But i wonder if it could only be used in space.Since neither of them used them in the battle for orb.

I’m not so bothered about whot shot that stupid grenade but rather what city they landed in. I mean if Kusanagi and Archangel is there Eternal must be there as well before it left to its mission. I reckon Cagalli ‘owns’ that city.

if orb owns the city makes you wonder why zaft send meer there considering they are in war or the very least hotile toward each other.Just a thought.

Never mind why Meer is there. That is NOT even Kusanagi there!!! It is the Izumo or whatever it is, Kusanagi is only a ship of the same class to Izumo. You can see it has a different colour to Kusanagi. It is Silver/Yellow sort of colour not white/blue.

looks like cupernicus is going to be blown away in episode 48,by the same beam weapon used to destroy the plant.Only now it’s being controlled my gilbert.

I heard rumours saying that Athrun Zala will die in episode 48 or 49 I can’t remember which. But someone said that he will die by self-destructing the Justice (again) in the Requiem, that weapon used to destroy P.L.A.N.T. And this will make Shinn remember what he truly wants and feels at last according to that rumour

by the end of episode 47.Durandull seems to be out of time considering how fast he talked.

it is obvious that everyone is shocked to hear the destiny plan except Lacus and Cagalli, they seem to be angry and worried. I reckon there are other purposes for the Destiny Gundam apart from normal combat hence it has the same name as the Destiny Plan. It can not be a mere coincidence.

the last three episode better be good, but i wonder if the new justis and freedom are nuclear
powerd too like the old one.I tought all gundam in seed destiny are nuclear powerd but i dosen’t seem so. I wonder why, considering the gundams become so much more powerful with it.

New Freedom and Justice are equipped with the Neutron Jammer Cancellor like the old ones. But Akatsuki is not, I think it is using the same power supply as Strike Rouge, a bit longer endurance than strike. Destiny and Legend are using sort of Nuclear power but not completely otherwise it wouldn’t run low in power.

Forget the kusanagi, it’s going to get fried eps 49. Don’t get too attached…and yes, Kira sucks with guns (remember when Kira actually threw a pistol at someone back in Gundam Seed?)

I think all of you that r putting down the show are crazy… GSD is a very very good show to me right up until the end… and why is everyone saying crap about Kira… personally he was the best fighter… like they said the ultimate cordinator…and secondly Kira would do just fine without Freedom… if you actually listen while your watching you would have heard that a mobile suit had to fit your fighting skills so if Authrun or Shinn or anyone else tried to fight in Freedom they would suck because Freedom fit Kira’s style… and since he’s the strongost of all he had the strongest fighter…so stop taliking about kira….!~~!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and Authrun doesn’t die he gets injured badly…!!!
