Our favorite duo arrives in the beautiful tourist trap, Harbor Paradise, and Van really hates the place. In an incredibly Pulp Fiction-esque scene, they get held up by two pathetic lovers, “Honey-Cherry” and “Mascotte”. They chase Van all over town in their fugly car, Love Deluxe, and get repeatedly owned. The two of them want to sell Dann to mafia boss Tony Montana, but it then turns out that Honey Cherry’s real name is Bunny Montana and Tony is her dad. Tony is upset at how Mascotte (whose real name is Kuratto) stole his armor and fuglicized it, but then Van surfs in to save the day. Everything looks to end happily, but then Van just barely misses a chance to catch the Clawed Man, and is left in a berserker rage.

Nothing defines a Gun X Sword episode like enemies that use TONS of engrish. My favorite moment was when Mascotte drove off the road and yelled “LOVE ME” as he dropped into the ocean. I also gleefully/continuously rewatched the portion where they blow poor Wendy into the ocean. In spite of the dopiness, this episode was pretty informative. We get a little more Wendy and Van bonding, and Van drops several informative tidbits. I can never tell if he’s serious or not, but Van mentions that he and Dann share the same body; moreover, Dann is his life. I get the feeling that the reason Van hates Harbor Paradise so much is that he and Helena were pretty lovey dovey themselves, and so the whole place just irks him to no end.

It was great to see that Wendy is really coming into her own as a trusty sidekick, what with that diner trip and all. I was amused by the fact that they were holding weddings en masse =D.

About the whole sharing body thing, it was shown in episode 4. So, it wasn’t something new.

Helarious episode. Best one since episode 1. I loved the Don Corleone character design of the mafia boss. It may be true that Van is the hero of this show but “Mascotte” and “Honey Cherry” were the true heroes of this episode.

I wonder what happens if Van removes his hat. He seems very protective of it. I hope that there aren’t any weird things hidden beneath the hat especially when we consider that Van does not have a fully human body.

Some people like catgirls. Some people like ninja girls. Me? I like uber-cute girls in go-go boots. Rawr. Much love for Bunny.

And uh, yeah cool episode even if it was Dann-less. As for the whole Van/Dann enigma, I’m guessing that whatever powers Dann (the weird blue liquid that was seen in ep 1 when Van was shot and again in ep.3 by the weird mad doctor) is somehow in Van’s blood stream, or rather replaces what’s in his body. And after seeing ep.5 where Van was starting to get sick, it seems the liquid begins to lose its potency/break down over time and needs to be purified every once in awhile by merging with Dann.

This episode was full of great spoofy goodness! I like how Van was all set up to summon Dann, only to find out that the enemy “armor” was just a freakin’ car. At least that’s one episode where he doesn’t use Dann…

Hey, that second car had a big honking HORN on the car. And I mean of the rhino variety.

The scene where Van arrived on that surfing board was so incredibly great though.
