It looked as if Suwabara and the Japan team were in trouble upon hearing that Suwabara had to use all the ingredients that he had garnered from the slot machine. Although Suwabara had gotten around 300 coins, upon further inspection, the actual number of ingredients was down to 34 because of the many repeated ingredients. However, this didn’t suit Kawachi too well since he didn’t believe that Suwabara was capable of coming up with a bread, and Suwabara had to go into the competition alone due to the bet made with the French team. But Suwabara seemed to take the challenge in stride as he told Kazuma and Kawachi about the strides he made in his baking abilities by becoming the “Lupan” and gathering world information about many different types of bread. He concluded by saying he would come up with a Pan d’epice, which is a bread traditionally consisting of many different spices. Suwabara’s words seemed to panic Edward Kayser a bit, but he continued on to bake his Kouglof au Miel and figured he still would have the matchup won despite Suwabara’s efforts.

Eventually, Pierrot began to judge the breads, and he gave the full 5 points to the French team as he noted that he had tasted the bread the year before in the finals. Kawachi and Kazuma declared shenanigans, but Pierrot reminded them that although he’s able to replication himself many times, he still only has one physical stomach, and having to taste the French team’s bread probably was not in their best interest. Suwabara however took his time and eventually revealed his Pan d’Epice, Kai style! Pierrot took a bite of Suwabara’s bread, and he was instantly transported back to Japan where he had met Kimura Megumi, who was a big fan and eventual girlfriend of his. Unfortunately, due to the success of the circus in Japan, Pierrot had to bring the circus to the US for a tour, and Megumi said he had to stay behind, which broke Pierrot’s heart a bit. However, Suwabara’s bread seemed to give Pierrot a new lease on finding another companion, and he gave Suwabara 5 points, but noted that he really would have given him 7 points if he had the capability. So chalk up another victory for team Japan as they seem to have gained momentum into the next round!

I really liked the part where Pierrot was picking apart the Russian team, who were reacting in such a ridiculous way Yakitate Japan 34 icon razz

I was disappointed that they took the part of Pierrot was going to disqualify Subawara for not having apples in his Lupan. Then he noticed the apples and begins to make a thing about his clown abilities being overwhelmed by 34 ingredients. Kawachii had a line saying that Subawara forgot the apple after crushing it with his bare hands.

Hahaha, a lot more airtime for Pierrot’s Kage Bunshin no Jutsu. Damn, he’s really a character. His backstory’s interesting too… I’m just wonder how in the heck he became as crazy as that, now, hehe! In any case, I just love how Yakitate develops its characters, even the supporting ones.

Really surprised with Suwabara there. That “Lupin” part with Kuronayagi’s old American pal removing his “mask” (only to uncover the same face) is just insanely priceless. This show is really the funniest!

I love this show, but those Pierrot flashbacks are just as boring as the characters within the show make it out to be :(

Haha, Pierrot’s story is so unusual. I’m sure most of it isn’t even true. To be honest, I quickly skimmed through most of the stories when I was reading the manga.

I read from somewhere that this show is only 47 episodes. I doubt it is even enough to finish the monaco cup arc. They are probably gonna skip some parts from the manga.

Pierrot is really a crazy character. I imagined him as someone with yellow hair when reading the manga but the anime proved me wrong.

Referin 2 japandakara question about how many episodes this series has. I believe i’ve read somewhere that this series contained 52 episode’s, but im not certain. But remember a series usually has 26 episodes a season, so 52 would be an approiate number.
