Assimilate Me

by Kabitzin on July 13, 2005 in Gundam Seed 1,Gundam Seed Destiny

At long last I decided that I could no longer go without knowing what drove all the Gundam Seed Destiny fans to such extreme feelings about the show’s characters. I acquired the first 38 episodes, but was informed by Ender that “half the fun in GSD builds off all the stuff that happened in GSeed1, so you’ve really got to watch the first one,” and that, “GSD zealots aren’t made overnight.” OK, very well, I accept your challenge, Ender! In a bold attempt to better understand the debates and find out where my loyalties lie, I hope to go through the first Gundam Seed season. The posts will probably be rather succinct, and more about what I thought of each episode, since it seems like everyone else has already watched this series and knows the plot like the back of their Zaku’s hand. I should probably mention that I know next to nothing about the Gundam world, and I am taking this ride more for the supreme angst than for the mecha fanservice.

Doesn’t it seem like at first glance you can tell things about a person’s personality based on which GS/GSD characters they like? Shouldn’t this be incorporated along with the ostensibly ubiquitous Blood Type in profiles?

Have fun with those 50 episodes of Gundam Seed and eventually 38+ episodes of Gundam Seed Destiny. I think you’ll find your answer to your question.

actually this is good for you Kabitzin, if you’re a n00b to the gundam world. You won’t be pointing out the various copied parts of other older (and beter) Gundam series out there.

I think after you watch SEED, you’ll not only enjoy Destiny better but realize just how much GSD is better than GS. (random note, that does not mean GS/GSD as a gundam series itself is THAT good. It’s actually pretty bad IMO compared to other gudanm series like the original, 0083, etc.)

… and crap, if you’re not in it for the mecha fanservice…. that’s like 1/2 the appeal! XD

This is really marvellous news that you’re going to blog GS! Really looking forward to your thoughts on the series.

I didn’t know anything about Gundam until GS (via Stripey) and even though sometimes I have a lot of difficulty telling the various mecha apart I still ended up buying and building one of the freaking toy models. -_-;;
