Sousei no Aquarion 09

Kabitzin on June 8, 2005 · in Sousei no Aquarion

The lunar eclipse is near, and it seems to bring bad omens. The mythological beast of the week is Titania, a beautiful woman that lures children away in their dreams. Once they have been captures, they are hung from shackles in the dream world and bled of their prana, while their real bodies lay in comas. Eager to oppose this new enemy, the recruits at Deava go to sleep, but find themselves also trapped in the dream world. Toma mentions that the wingless ones cannot succeed because they don’t know how to pass through the pathway of dreams.

While the various members of Deava venture into their trippy dreams, Apollo sees Titania reaching out to him and draws near. However, he then realizes that she smells like a graveyard and suddenly her arms become like snakes and begin to choke him. Apollo wakes up to find real wounds on his neck, and he’s informed that only he, Silvia, Pierre, Rena, and Chloe are awake. Fudo chimes in with some ever helpful advice about how mankind is an ocean and every dream is a wave, and also that the moonlight that everyone sees in their dream can be opened to reveal a pathway to the dream world. Whatever, Fudo.

Apollo organizes Chloe and Pierre to join him in sleeping in their vector units (Aqarion can amplify their ethereal bodies), and when Apollo re-enters the dream world, Titania brings Sirius out to fight him. Apollo can’t fight wholeheartedly, because injuries translate back into the real world, and he is forced back as he hears Silvia yelling to him not to hurt Sirius. Instead, Apollo grabs Sirius’ sword, and the pain triggers Vector Solar to transform into arms mode and bust into the dream. This breaks the crystal shell surrounding them, and Chloe and Pierre are free to call their Vector Units as well.

Unfortunately, Titania is very powerful in the dream world. Even the Mugen Punch cannot touch her, and Solar Aquarion finds itself in a bad situation. Sirius mutters some poetry to Silvia, telling her to shoot the moon (risky!!!), and Silvia bonks herself in the head to swap in for Chloe (surprising!!!). Titania leads by making some great Ume Bunshin (dream clones), but Silvia keeps the surprises coming by aiming her Lunatic Archery attack at the moon’s reflection in the water, causing arrows to rain from the sky. Titania is destroyed, and judging from Toma’s reaction, it may be the first definite Deava victory.

While not quite as good as episode 8, this one was quite entertaining as well. Titania was an interesting choice for the enemy, and I wonder why the other mythological beasts were unnamed. I think it’s pretty clear that Silvia gets all the best gattai lines, although Pierre passed something to Chloe, causing them to both feel the burn T__T. Speaking of Pierre, why was a cross-dressing Jun in his dream harem?! It’s a shame Rena didn’t have a dream, because I bet hers would have been extra trippy.

This episode reminded me of Power Rangers or something. I hope Fudo dies. Like soon. Then maybe someone who can talk like they got some sense can take his place. Dude is stoned, man.
