Seeing how useless she felt during the whole saga while Sasuke was running away from Konoha, Sakura decides to try and take matters into her own hands and make her attempt to try and bring Sasuke back. However, Naruto quickly notices her plans while she was visiting him at the hospital, and Naruto rushes out of the hospital during the night to catch Sakura before she leaves the village. Although Naruto said that he wouldn’t stop her, he said that he would join her in an effort to hunt down Sasuke.
Jiraiya is even quicker to notice the action that the two would take, so even before Sakura and Naruto meet up to leave Konoha at night, Jiraiya makes a request to Tsunade to have him bring the two to the Hidden Sound Village to do some investigating under his supervision. Afterwards, Jiraiya catches Naruto and Sakura before they leave the village with news that Tsuande has given them orders to go scout out the Hidden Sound Village. Elated, the two agree and the three of them are quickly on their way.
As they got closer to the Hidden Sound Village, Jiraiya said that they would be investigating more specifically the Rice Field Country for some more information, but unfortunately he doesn’t know the whereabouts of this country. So in typical Jiraiya fashion he asks Naruto for some money so he can go and “investigate” the run-down ghetto town full of inns that was nearby. Naruto is reluctant, but he hands over his money, and Sakura follows suit as she hands over her wallet. With the money, Jiraiya walks into a bar and in typical Ero-Sennin fashion asks for sake and girls, particularly young ones o_O.
Meanwhile, as they wait outside the town, Sakura and Naruto encounter a strange masked ninja who almost ambushes them from behind. But before they could chase the strange figure, they see Jiraiya running away quickly out the town as he’s being chased by some goons. Naruto begins to form some Kage Bushins, but Jiraiya yells out for Naruto to just run away as he doesn’t want anyone from the twon to be suspicious of their investigation, and the episode ends with the three running away from some relatively powerless goons that they could probably take rather easily.
This episode is definately filler material, so just watch it for whatever it’s worth and don’t expect anything spectacular to happen.

Hmm, I wonder how long the filler will be, and furthermore, if they actually illustrate the Kakashi backstory in the manga.
And additionally, wouldn’t it be wierd if they put new content inbetween the 3-year gap?
Well, I think it would be pretty cool if they could have some sidestories with the other characters. Just think of the possibilities!
Shikamaru vs Deep Blue in a battle of Shogi champions!
Kiba and Akamaru explore the woods of Konoha on Animal Planet!
Ino has her own TV show showing how you can decorate your house using flowers on “Yamanaka Ino Living!”
Chouji competes on Iron Chef!
The list can go on and on…:)
FILLER!?!? NOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!
Aww… my eyes… it hurts… (ears too)… Looks like they decide to fill the 3 months in between.
It will probably be a while before Naruto gets interesting again. :/
Naruto was so awesum back then but now….it’s just boring…no action….and these damn filler episodes…jeeeezzz…. I agree with Mattias. It will prob. b a while b4 Naruto starts 2 kick ass….rite now i’d rather watch Bleach than Naruto. ;_;
Once the filler and Kakashi Gaiden is over, The show should pick up again if they follow manga storyline (and they should). Kakashi Gaiden is also good, but Naruto won’t be kicking ass there since he wasn’t born yet.
I wonder if Sasuke will ever come back at the team!!!!!
But its okay because Naruto will get all the attention and everyone knows that Naruto is much stronger than Sasuke!!! :-0

I have to agree completely with the idea that the anime is rather better when it follows the manga storyline, but honestly, the current filler episodes aren’t *that* bad — I just saw ep137 now, and storyline and fight choreography were quite good. In contrast to the pointless Idate arc, these episodes actually flow with the original storyline, have good character development (Sakura), and have a bunch of neat jutsus.
Just my two cents ^^:
Hmm, I thought that this episode was decent for filler material. Sakura actually got a few lines!
