You may have noticed some pretty craptastic sluggish speeds this weekend on the site, but everything should be fixed now. Here’s the final explaination given to me by the Surpass Hosting staff:
Dear Kabitzin,
There was incoming DDOS on the server. We have blocked some ips, and everything is back to normal..
The FTP issue was due to a bad configuration entry which has been fixed now.
It sucks that people do dumb stuff like this DDOS (Distributed Denial of Service), but at least the problem was fixed. The FTP wasn’t working either, preventing posting, but hopefully everything’s working again (although it does still seem a bit slow to me).
