Most of this episode features the red-headed Goran from last time. Julius (nicknamed “J”) is a rising star, but he’s also quite sensitive. Although Julius did fabulous in last year’s championship run, he made a boneheaded play in the last four seconds that lost them a game against the IBL’s Thunders that would have qualified the Sonics for the IBL. Instead of following the coach’s logical play to drive and kick (to Spira, the Tayuya look-a-like), Julius played completely into the opponent’s seemingly nonsensical decision to place 4 defenders on him. This naturally leads to a lot of angst. Elsewhere, we also get to see a boring Gyuma interview where Gyuma points to Julius as a rising young star (who could challenge Gyuma’s record as youngest player to enter the IBL). After spouting some standard sports cliches, Gyuma also disses Hideyoshi by saying that he has never seen him play or learned anything about him. Hideyoshi is enraged about being ignored, but later on we find that Gyuma has been following the Earth team quite closely.
What’s with this focus on Julius? This was another really boring episode, and Julius isn’t really that interesting a character. He even stole his stock footage dunk from DT for goodness sake! Speaking of DT, it sucks for him to be called out for letting the team slack off. There’s only so much Dream Time you can give to a team that finds playing time for guys like Rose and Han. Afro still hasn’t left the bench. The guy doesn’t even get to play in practice. Cut him!

At least they didn’t call him “Dr.” J. That would be pushing it just a bit too far.
Isn’t Julius the one that owns Hideyoshi 1on1 in Episode 9?
Yeah, but then again, everyone owns Hideyoshi 1-on-1. My grandma could probably own Hideyoshi 1-on-1.
