Poor Kawachi 
After working so hard to make it to the Final Four, Kawachi’s path to the final was squashed by the evil Yukino and the endo-proteases she mixed with Kawachi’s flour. However, Kawachi doesn’t go down without a fight. He first suspects that the “entrance” Dave created had caused some cold air drafts to come into the kitchen, so Kawachi calls Ryou to turn up the temperature and have Dave’s entrance closed up. But even under the sweltering heat of 39 degrees Celsius (which is a whopping 102.2 degrees Fahrenheit for those in the non-metric system 
), Kawachi’s dough fails to firm up let along rise.
Meanwhile, Shigeru finishes up his “Pan au algae”, which is a native yeast from the seawater and has Ryou and Dave sample them. After biting into the bread, Ryou’s mind has a flashback back to his college days when he and his then girlfriend Cathy would spend moments watching the ocean together. This also prompts an awkward moment between Ryou and the Meister as Ryou almost plants one on the Meister’s lips 
As for Dave, his scream-o-meter registers a 300, which apparently is the “perfect” score on Dave’s scale, AND he manages to stand up as well!
As Kawachi continues to fight the endless fight to get his dough together, he passes out due to a heat stroke while an angry mob of people starts a riot to get Kawachi to give up. Shellshocked by the moment, Kazuma also breaks down emotionally at the events that unfolded in front of him and seems to want to throw in the towel against Suwabara. However, Kawachi comes out of his hospital bed to inspire Kazuma just as Willis Reed did with the NY Knicks in 1970 to go on and battle for him, Tsukino, and the Tokyo Southern Branch. With this encouraging words, a re-energized Kazuma enters the kitchen to take on Suwabara with “the experimental, historical, supreme” Japan #44!
Despite Yukino’s attempts to derail the Southern Branch, it looks as if her attempts at sabotage has actually brought everyone in the Southern Branch a lot closer together. Someone seriously needs to step in and kick that woman’s ass big time.
