After the last win, everyone’s feeling good, and the coach is pretty excited about the addition of Lazuli. From the looks of things, he’ll probably play one of the forward positions, and he’s got a pretty good handle to go with his post moves and medium-range jumper. The only concern is that Lazuli is rather antisocial, but he at least eases Cha-Che’s concerns when he offers her some sweet hair care products. Meanwhile, it’s revealed that Yoshimune is one of the founders of the IBL, and so as a show of respect, the IBL executives agree to allow the Earth team to play an IBL minor league team. This causes a media blitz, but the players themselves don’t really care too much. Behind the scenes, some of the executives come up with a plan to completely crush this Earth team by winning with a “Propers” team comprised of the crappiest players in the IBL. However, when the Earth team starts the game scoring with ease, the coach of the Propers gets worried and replaces the scrubs with the actual starters.

In spite of Han’s impressive billiards abilities, I’m glad they replaced him with Lazuli. It comes as no surprise that the little monkey Hideyoshi is still left on the bench (he’s not even the 6th man!), and they finally come out and tell him that he disrupts the team’s flow. The few plays shown this episode were really smooth, although I’m starting to suspect that they will continue to reuse a lot of these scenes while changing the color palette and background layers. I’ve already seen the ugly DT dunk and the nice Mo reverse layup a number of times, but hopefully the stock scenes used will be some of the better ones. The Lazuli/Cha-Che scene was really amusing and unexpected, and I was saddened to see that Tayuya has been relegated to the minor leagues. I guess it makes sense that Tayuya would be on a team called the Sonics, but I am wondering if she’s actually got any game.
