Yakitate Japan 16

With the Yakisoba competition now out of the way, Ryou begins to present Koala with the 100k yen prize for presenting the best Yakisoba bread. Smelling something a bit fishy about Koala (and having not used his assassination skills in a while), Ryuu leaps in front of Ryou, takes the prize money, and challenges Koala to a fight. Strangely enough, Koala matches up with Ryuu punch for punch, and the fighting aura that Koala emitted is immediately recognized by Ken to be Mokoyama as he and Mokoyama have trained before together in the past to achieve the Solar Gauntlets.

Meanwhile, Ryuu gets tired of messing around and unmasks Koala, only to find another mask underneath!! However, this Koala mask is a sad faced one, perhaps indicating the past suffering that Mokoyama has undergone. Anyways, Mokoyama (assuming that he is Koala, which I’m assuming with 99% certainty :) ) manages to get the 100k yen prize back, and Ryuu escapes the grasps of Ryou’s men in black by jumping out a window. Once this fiasco settled down, Ryou finally announces the next bake-off challenge: animal bread! Only this time, they will be judged on both taste and presentation!

Upon hearing the next challenge, Ken expresses his concern to the group about how Mokoyama is capable of creating a 20 loop bread for the scales of his famous dragon bread, which seemingly has no equal in the baking world. But Kazuma seems unphased by Ken’s description as he and Tsukino go out and buy some ingredients for the challenge, which was to be held the next day. While those two were out getting ingredients, Ken explains to Kawachi that he even looked up to Mokoyama back in the day, but the greed from working at St. Pierre’s has made Mokoyama lose focus of what kind of person he is. Ken then admits that although the challenge he proposed to Mokoyama in the St. Pierre vs Pantasia bake-off was to advertise their store, Ken also wanted to see if he can relight the fire of the old Mokoyama.

The next day rolls around, and Ryuu explains that he won’t be the only one to help judge the breads as he introduced Dave Hashiguchi, who comes in with the help of Nihou Break Kogyo on a bulldozer of all things! :-o Ken explains that Hashiguchi used to be the manga author of Takitate Gohan and other great gourmet mangas, but once the riches of his mange started coming in, Hashiguchi treated himself to one too many cream puffs, and now he has forgotten to walk and remembers how busy he used to be in the past by only saying “Ahhhh…so busy so busy…”. But besides that, Hashiguchi seems to have great taste sense from all the gourmet food he has consumed, so Ryuu has invited him annually to help out with the competition.

Once everyone got over the shock of Hashiguchi’s entrance, the bake-off resumed with Kazuma vs Mokoyama. Mokoyama immediately goes to create his special looped bread, while everyone is wondering at what Kazume is up to (other than the fact he’s making Japan #8). At the end, Mokoyama reveals his special dragon bread, which gets immediate praise, and Kazuma’s chances seemed to be dimming like the lights that go out at Pantasia all of a sudden. But of course, this is Kazuma baking instead of cooking this time, so he pulls out some magic and immediately lights up the room with some green turtle powah!!! :)

All I got to say is I can’t wait to see how this evaluation will end up! :)

One more thing to note. On the last scene showing Kazuma and Koala with their breads before the ending, you get a slight glimps of Mokoyama’s face through the Koala mask!
